It is expected that the prospective applicant has a masters’ degree in control engineering, marine engineering or applied mathematics, and has in-depth knowledge in control engineering and at least one of the fields: data analysis, mathematical modeling and simulations, marine hydrodynamics, marine operations or machinery systems. Solid scientific qualifications, relevant MSc research topics and personal qualities are important. It is further an advantage with good skills in C++ programming and some understanding of shipping operations. The nature of the project favors candidates who can work independently.

Scholarship Description: There is a vacancy for a PhD-candidate in the research program ImproVEDO (Improved ship design and operation, by operational data aggregation, key performance indices and numerical optimization). This program aims to develop methods and tools to improve the energy efficiency in general vessel design and operation. The PhD scholarship is offered for a period of 3 years. The particular research focus of the PhD candidates can, in understanding with the supervisor and SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture be chosen within this overall objective.
