The Nutrition Manager woks
with the APZU and MOH clinical leadership and across multiple APZU departments
to support nutrition programming in Neno District, The clinical programs in
Neno currently focus on interaction and decentralization, so this position
involved working across these teams to integrate screening, care, follow up and
education across these teams to integrate screening,
care follow up, and education across the community and clinical interventions
in Neno, It is a dynamic environment requiring a diverse skill set including
excellent communication skills, planning and
budgeting, implementation and advocacy, The Nutrition Manager will focus on
identifying 100% of child malnutrition cases in Neno District and help evaluate
and redesign a program in collaboration with the MOH to utilize community and
clinical colleagues to accompany these patients through the care cascade
successfully, APZU is also focusing on screening for adult malnutrition as a
means to identify and treat underlying illnesses, as well as development
educational curriculum an around nutrition and how to address overweight
patients in Neno, Programs that will be collaborated with include a combined
HIV/NCD program, a village health worker (VHW) program with over 99900 VHWs and Program on
Social and Economic Rights (POSER), Integration with all of these programs will
be a key focus

Work closely with MOH
counterpart, the district nutrition coordinator on all aspects of nutrition
needs on Neno District. Oversee and manage all aspects of the Nutrition program
– community outreach, education, screening, enrollment, care, default tracking
and program evaluation in collaboration with MOH and PIH clinical teams, the
VHW team, the community programs team, the POSER tea, and the M&E team,
Supervise and manage work assignments and performance of staff in the nutrition
department, Ensure the Director of Clinical Services, Medical Directors, and
Clinical Manager remain up to date on all aspects of the nutrition program,
Lead the development of workplans and budgets for the nutrition program,
Participate as manager in PIH management activities, Oversee implementation of
integration of nutrition activities into inpatient care, the Integrated Chronic
Care Clinic (IC3, for HIV and NCD patients) and community outreach, Work with
clinical and other leadership as well as the MOH to develop and implement a
plan to achieve zero child malnutrition in Neno District, This will also
involve cross –site collaboration with PIH nutrition teams in other countries
where PIH works, Work with Nutrition and M&E teams to ensure and implement
strategies for high quality data collection and use for the nutrition program,
with the priority of routine use of data for program improvement, Help identify
and carry out research priorities for the nutrition program, Support community
mobilisation activities from a nutrition perspective including development of
educational materials, coordination, data collection etc, represent PIH at
regional and national meeting son nutrition issues, Where appropriate, assist
with grant applications, lead grants and manage budgets and grant activities
for the nutrition program, Perform any additional duties as requested by PIH

Degree or diploma in
nutrition (advanced degree is an advantage), 3 yrs work experience in field of
nutrition, Up-to-date on most recent national nutrition guidelines, Minimum of
1 yr work experience involving management and leadership of a team, Experience
with data
collection and interpretation/analysis or M&E, Strong compute skills
including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Native of Malawi, fluent in
Chichewa and English with demonstrated writing proficiency in English,
Willingness to live and work full time in a rural
setting, Ability to work well in a dynamic team environment alongside health
workers, support staff and patents from a variety of backgrounds, A strong
interest in learning social medicine, that is a willingness to look at diseases
of poverty through a wide “biopsychosocial” lens that draws upon knowledge from
