JOB PURPOSE

The Carbon Project (CP) Program Manager oversees all aspects of CP
program delivery, leading CP m

embers towards setting and achieving
ambitious and realistic Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reduction targets

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Carbon Project Program Manager will lead the above-mentioned areas
reporting to the Executive Director and is supported by
high-performing volunteers.

Event Management
• Plans, manages and delivers nine core events throughout each year
(Educational Forums, Technical Workshops, and the annual Evening of
Recognition), as well as additional events determined by ongoing
partnerships, including key elements such as: event topic content,
speakers, environmental impact, financial planning/reporting, venue
coordination, event invitations, event execution, etc. with support
from the events team
• Develops and shares key takeaways from events with attendees,
collects event feedback, and associated event related media pieces
(blogs, media advisories, press releases) with support from the events
team
• Plans, manages and executes the CP event sponsorship strategy in
semi-annual outreach campaigns, with support from the
marketing/communications team

Communications Management
• Works with NSI’s communications team to manage on-going marketing
and communications efforts across print, radio, television, online,
and in-person channels
• Manages CP member and community updates including monthly
newsletters, community event and engagement updates, etc.
• Supports the organization’s presence at various community events, in
conjunction with the marketing functional area

CP Reporting & Recognition
• Collects and shares CP member sustainability/GHG reduction best
practices, to be integrated into member resources, newsletters and
wherever else relevant
• Coordinates and supports in data collection and content development
related to the NSI Annual Report
• Ensures CP members are able to easily & comprehensively report their
carbon impact to NSI, by:
• Overseeing the provision of sufficient support for members to report
• Training and empowering CP member staff to properly report, account,
quality check, and track their GHG emissions
• Acting an ad-hoc resource for CP members on all matters relating to
carbon accounting, reporting and tracking
• Provides quality checking of GHG data on an ongoing basis in
conjunction with the Carbon Services team

Carbon Project Member Support
• Facilitates the new member on-boarding process including in-person
meetings, facility information collection, resource sharing, reporting
training, etc.
• Supports the development of tools and resources to support member
sustainability initiatives in conjunction with the GHG support
services team
• Collects and distributes ongoing programs and incentives to support
CP members in reducing GHG emissions (funds, grants for members, etc.)
• Supports and guides CP members in moving through the Carbon Project
‘milestones’ towards setting an emission-reduction target
• Meets with member organizations on an ad-hoc basis to support
project development, attend green team meetings and develop
recommendations for sustainability projects for member organizations
• Facilitates the member off-boarding process, when necessary
• Oversees the implementation of the Carbon Project Perks program

Website Administration
• Manages content on NSI’s WordPress-based website and Member Portal
including sharing media coverage, adding and editing partner pages,
event promotion, adding resources and tools and takeaways from past
events, creating new member accounts, etc.
• Conducts an on-going review of website content in order to improve
the search engine optimization, organization-related messaging, etc.

As time permits, Program Manager works closely with the Executive Director to:
• Evolve and support the continued development of NSI’s overall
strategic direction
• Identify and pursue relevant funding opportunities

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• University degree in a related field
• A self-starter that thrives by taking on a variety of roles and
enjoys tasks ranging from creation to implementation
• Highly organized with demonstrated project management skills and
attention to detail
• Able to work in both individual and group settings with limited supervision
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt in a fast-paced and continually
evolving environment
• Proven leadership abilities and multitasking capabilities
• Passion for community-led sustainability leadership
