Community Development
Officer   – NFC Rwanda

Purpose of the position: The purpose of this role is to be the custodian
of the Corporate Social Responsibility programme in Rwanda and effectively
support the operation of The New Forests Company through progressive
initiatives with great impact, which mitigate risk to the company and improve
the socio-economic conditions of our neighboring communities. The CDO reports
directly to the Corporate Social Responsibility Programme Manager (CSR PM) with
a dotted line to the General Manager.
Skills and competencies required:
  • Proven
    track record in community development, establishing trust, managing
    projects, forging and nurturing relationships
  • Strong
    resource development skills—proposal writing, budget creation / management
    and donor reporting
  • Excellent
    verbal and written communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda—French
    will be an added advantage. Proven ability to produce strong narrative
    reports, manage budgets and deliver project plans
  • Ability
    to negotiate with rural communities. Proven ability to understand and
    translate the needs and concerns of the community and the company clearly
    for all stakeholders
Requirements:
  • Undergraduate
    degree required in social sciences, development studies, Economics,
    Management, and any other related field; Post Graduate degree will be an
    advantage.
  • Minimum
    of 5 years working experience in a similar environment dealing with
    communities, social development, negotiations and government—working with
    communities around Nyungwe BZ is an advantage.
  • Experience
    in applying monitoring and evaluation systems.
  • Ability
    to ride a motorbike and in possession of a valid driving licence of Cat. A
Remuneration and Benefits:  will dependent on qualifications,
experience, and skills of candidate
