The
Communications Intern will assist the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) in
Alberta with a number of tasks, ranging from researching and writing stories aimed
at NCC donors and supporters in the Alberta region, along with photo research
and archiving, media tracking, media outreach, brochure design and other
communications related activities. Working independently and with NCC staff,
the Communications Intern will assist with planning, research, writing and
editing of digital and print publications, particularly NCC’s website and print
publication. The successful candidate will also assist with tasks within the
development department when needed including special events, outreach and
prospect research.

position is a great opportunity for the successful candidate to apply classroom
theories and skills to practical and hands-on work. The ideal candidate for
this position would be a student currently enrolled in a communications, public
relations or journalism program at a post secondary institution. This person
would also have a keen interest in nature and science. This position is based
in the Calgary, and a candidate who is familiar with conservation in Alberta
would be preferred. We’re also looking for someone who has a valid driver’s
license, and the flexibly to work a few evenings and weekends when required.
