National Forestry Authority (NFA) is a Government agency established under the
National Forestry and Tree Planting Act, 2003 as a corporate body responsible
for sustainable development and management of Central Forest Reserves (CFRs)
and provision of technical support to stakeholders in the forest sub-sector.

Job
Summary: The
Transport Officer will efficiently& effectively manage all the NFA motor
fleet in a sound condition at all times & to ensure its proper use,
coordination & allocation to cover all the transport logistical needs of
the organization. The incumbent will also advise management on formulation
& implementation of transport policies.

Key
Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure
fleet control& efficiently by implementing up to date fleet management
systems (FMS) in liaison with management - Ensure
the implementation of safety programs& monitor the safety &
security of the NFA’s fleet - Ensure
that the fleet complies with all the legal & regulatory requirements
governing the use of motor vehicles. - Ensure
that the fleet is comprehensively insured & follow up all insurance
claims through agreed procedures & regulations in a timely manner - Process
all motor vehicle accidents & thefts in liaison with the insurance
companies& police within the established contracts, laws&
regulations - Prepare
the sectional annual budget & budget performance reports for
monitoring& controlling operating costs against the budget both on a
monthly & quarterly basis. Also produce the annual sectional
procurement plan - Ensure
fuel accountability by all fleet users on a monthly & quarterly basis - Advise
and work closely with the procurement unit in selection of maintenance
garages as well as purchase of transport related supplies& other
logistics. - Actively
monitor the implementation of the NFA’s transport policy& ensure its
review from time to time - Mentor,
supervise & appraise drivers at HQ & submit all annual performance
appraisals. - Compilation
and sending regular reports to the Director Finance& Administration - Ensure
maintenance, repair& replacement of the NFA’s owned motor vehicles - Perform
any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the DFA.
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience:
Skills and Experience:
- The
ideal candidate for the aforementioned NFA career placement should an Honours
degree in mechanical/automobile engineering, transport and Logistics or
any other relevant degree from a recognised institution. - Possession
of fleet management & Administration training obtained from a
recognized institution and knowledge of fleet management software are
added advantages. - At
least three years’ experience in fleet management & fleet coordination
in a big organisation - Excellent
communication & interpersonal skills, Team spirit, confidentiality
with ability to provide technical advice on fleet management to SMT - Good
report writing skills.
