conjunction with Trinity College Dublin are running a project called NOURISH
(Nutrition and Treatment

Outcome:
Development of a Ugandan – Irish HIV / Nutrition Research Cluster). The project
aims to increase our understanding of the complex interactions between food
security (i.e. when all people at all times have access to sufficient, safe,
nutritious food to maintain a healthy life),
HIV/AIDS and
socio-economic factors, to impact intervention programmes at national level and
benefit the poor in Uganda. NOURISH will create a HIV/Nutrition research
cluster of academics, clinicians and policy contributors which will build
research and teaching capacity in Irish and Ugandan institutions and will be
the mechanism for delivery of the project objectives. A lot of data have been
collected on three different work packages (clinical, anthropological and
economic) of the project and more follow-up data are being collected.
Job Summary: The Research fellow will analyse the data
across the three work packages, lead the dissemination of the research findings
and write policy recommendations based on the findings.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • In
    charge of analyzing data across the three work packages, synthesize and
    present the evidence for action
  • Also,
    measure the impact of health interventions in relation to HIV and
    nutrition using a trans-disciplinary approach
  • Make
    Policy recommendations based on the findings of the overall project.
  • Spend at
    least 50% of time on the project work
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    candidate should hold a Master degree with at least two years’ experience
  • Past experience
    with research, data and policy analysis in the field of HIV and nutrition
    are added advantages
  • Ability
    to demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in
    writing,
  • Strong
    skills in quantitative analytical methods and at least a demonstrable
    interest in qualitative research methods
