Children’s Garden Assistant

Summer contract: JUNE 29 – AUGUST 29, 2015

The London Community Resource Centre welcomes applications from
qualified candidates to fill the role of Children’s Garden Assistant,
working as part of the Sprouts Children’s Garden Program. These summer
positions are for 30 hours per week and pay $11.00 per hour.

Primary responsibilities include: Assisting the Children’s Garden
Coordinator with programming at garden sites throughout the city of
London, planning hands-on crafts and games related to nature and
gardening, engaging children and families in garden and nature
activities, helping to maintain the children’s gardens including
planting, weeding, and watering, helping educate children and families
about bio-diversity, organic gardening and healthy eating, assisting
with children’s cooking programs, doing community outreach at farmer’s
markets and community events, and organizing a Sprouts celebration as
part the Mantis Festival.

Applicants will be required to work on Saturdays and some evenings. A
Police Vulnerable Sector Check is required for this position. Safe
Food Handling certification is an asset.

Applicants must:
• be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
• have been registered as a full-time student during the preceding
academic year;
• intend to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic
year;
• be a student in a secondary, post-secondary, vocational or technical program;
• be legally entitled to work according to relevant Ontario
legislation and regulations and;
