Alexandra Hospital Foundation is seeking a seasoned communications professional
to join our team.
Reporting to the
Vice President and working c
losely with the Foundation Team and Board of
Directors, the Director of Communications leads a communications office
comprised of digital communications staff and consulting professionals, and is
responsible for all aspects of the development and implementation of the
Foundation’s external and internal communication strategies relating to the
Lois Hole Hospital for Women.
This is no small
task. The Lois Hole Hospital for Women is a national authority on women’s
health issues and a leader in collaborative, consolidated, specialized care for
women of all ages and in all stages of life.
The successful
candidate will be a strategist, a problem solver, an innovator and a talented
story teller. You are adept at employing a full array of media to deliver
emotional resonance and rationale discourse that connects the needs of this
hospital to donors who want to make a difference.
Key
Accountabilities:
- oversee
the development of communication strategies that maintain and continue to
build upon the growing brand of the LHHW; - provide
leadership and support in the development of materials that serve to grow
and steward donor relations, employing the use of traditional and social
media tools; - create
opportunities to engage media in ways that position the Lois Hole Hospital
for Women as an innovative leader and the authority in women’s health; - act as
a spokesperson and ambassador of the RAH Foundation when necessary; - maintain
strong relationships with Alberta Health Services senior leadership; - plan
and develop written materials including donor reports, annual reports,
media releases, Q&As, briefing notes and speeches for senior level
executives; - deliver
measurements and analysis of effectiveness of communications activities
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary
degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a
related field; - A
minimum of five years experience in the Communications and/or Public
Relations sector (management experience preferred); - Must
possess excellent communications skills with strong writing and editorial
abilities; - Must
possess strong project and time management skills; - Must
possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to perform fluidly
in a fast-paced environment.
