Load of parasitic contamination on Vegetables in different markets

Each group of samples were fixed (preserve) in a better and covered for 6-12
hours containing 500ml of Normal saline, formalsaline and 250ml of water. Then
the samples were filtered and allowed to sediment for 15 minutes and 5ml of
suspension was kept decanting and spurned for a15minutes. From the concentrated
suspension 0.15ml was examined under the microscope to count the load of
parasitic contamination as described in the materials and method section.

Bitter leaf were contaminated with H.nana and Taenia eggs, Diphylobotum
eggs and Schistosome eggs. Okra were contaminated with Strongyloides larvae
only waterleaf was contaminated with Taenia eggs as well as Direcolium eggs,
while Pumpkin were contaminated with only Vampirolepsis nana eggs in all the
markets table 1. Highest contamination was found in Tomatoes 4(80%) followed and
by waterleaf (2(40%)) while the caused contamination was found in Pumpkin leaf
(1(20%)) (Table 3)
While determining the parasitic load on each markets, the highest
contaminated market was Ughelli (3(60%)) Ofuoma market (3(60%)) while the
lowest was found in Agbarho (2(40%)), Agbarha (2(40%)), Orogun (2(40%)) markets
