A. Background
Lifemate Limited is a fast growing and innovative company that aims to deliver
coffee products to customers worldwide. With head offices on Remera-Kicukiro
road (just opposite the Heineken billboard, near Good Year), in Gatsabo
district-Kigali city, the company maintains a particular focus on coffee
processing, trading and export.
The company is implementing a new growth strategy, which includes: a
realignment of processing facilities; acquisition of new in-house capabilities;
consolidation of the Aromec brand; improving pace of product innovation and
development; and penetrating new markets.
The current coffee processing system is comprised of:
1. Parchment coffee production at Coffee Washing Stations.
2. Coffee hulling, sorting and grading.
3. Private label roasted coffee processing.

We are assembling a team of individual management, marketing and production
specialists to implement the strategy. Eligible professionals are hereby invited
to submit their applications. The positions are as follows: General Manager
(1), Production Manager (1), and Sales and Marketing Manager (1).
B. Roles and tasks for the positions:
1. General Manager (GM)
The GM is responsible for supporting the Managing Director in managing
operations of the Company. S/he will manage a staff of approximately 40
employees tasked with activities such as mobilization and production, sales and
marketing, finance and administration, and maintaining contacts with clients and
cooperatives and processing units, tracking prices and profitability of
products, and maintaining financial records and interacting with financiers.
S/he will report to the Managing Director.
Duties and Responsibilities
The GM shall facilitate the implementation of Board resolutions and decisions
approved at the Executive Management level. Other duties include, among others:
• Ensuring strategic direction of production operations.
• Developing detailed operational plans with a clear roadmap and targets.
• Developing and reviewing management policies and procedures.
• Preparing, implementing and managing budgets.
• Implementation of Board decisions with respect to banking, custodial, asset
management and other contractual financial arrangements.
• Preparing, negotiating and implementing contracts for the Company.
• Performing other tasks assigned by the Managing Director.
Required Expertise and Qualifications
• Five years of relevant professional experience in the coffee industry or
commodity trading institution. In a business-oriented private or government
enterprise in a senior management role.
• A relevant university degree in economics, management, business
administration, agri-business, or professional certification, or equivalent and
seven years relevant work experience.
• Solid understanding of commodity markets.
• Capacity to represent Lifemate in high level business meetings.
• Capable of hands on problem-solving, with ability to generate ideas and
solutions.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to communicate fluently in both English and Kinyarwanda.
