The Government of Rwanda (GoR) through
Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA) received a grant from World Bank
(WB) towards the implementation of Landscape Approach to Forestry Restoration
and Conservation (LAFREC) Project. The project development and the global
environmental objective is to demonstrate landscape management for enhanced
environmental services and climate resilience in one priority landscape.

The project will result in a major

enhancing both productive and environmental values.
The overall objective of hiring the
Project Forest and Community Development Officers is to provide the technical
assistance to landscape approach to Forest management and conservation at local
community with all technical and strategic activities towards a better
management of the project. This will smooth and speed up the day to day

- Provide
technical expertise and strategic guidance in terms of watershed
management and forest management to land use planning groups.
- Collect
the GIS data and Produce maps of all watershed and Forest management
activities of LAFREC Ensure relevant data on watershed management and
forest management are collected, reviewed and analyzed. Ensure quality on
Monitoring and Reporting of on landscape approach to forest restoration
and conservation.
- Assist
the project beneficiaries in development and monitoring of community
driven development subprojects.
- Support
the project beneficiaries within Mukura- Gishwati Corridor to be grouped
in sub catchment management groups.
- Supervision
of field works in assigned zone and provide the related weekly, monthly
and quarterly reports as per the template provided by District and LAFREC
Project.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION CRITERIA ·
- Advanced
diploma (A1) in Natural Resources and Environmental Management,
Environmental Sciences and or Certificate (A2) in Agronomy or Forestry with
Distinction or satisfaction with 3 years working experience.
- Extensive
background of rural development and land use planning techniques mostly
for Forest, agriculture,Agroforestry, soil conservation, with emphasis on
community-based, gender-sensitive programs.
- Sound
working experience in environmental management. Substantive knowledge of
watershed management issues in the region will be an added value.
- Fluency
in English is a prerequisite. Fluency in French will be an added value.
- Good
networking, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Strong
analytical, writing and communication skills.
- Excellent
computer skills.
- Innovative,
flexible and result-oriented and pro-active.
- Ability
to work under pressure.
Duty Station:
The Project Forest and Community
development Officers (3) will be stationed in Rutsiro District for the duration
of the contract.
