KTH in Stockholm is the largest and oldest technical university in Sweden. KTH School of Computer Science and Communication (CSC) announces three Associate professor positions in the area of Computer Science. Four departments at the school conduct research in Computer Science: Computer Vision and Active Perception, Computational Biology, Speech, Music and Hearing, and
Theoretical Computer Science.
Assignment
The positions include teaching at the undergraduate and master levels as well as supervision of doctoral students and research financed by the ongoing projects in the area of computer science. The division of time between research and teaching is not a priori fixed and is subject to negotiations on an individual basis.

Subject description
Computer Science entails both theoretical foundations as well as practical skills for development of products and systems that contain computer hardware and software.
Eligibility requirements
Persons eligible for employment as Associate Professor are those who have been awarded a doctor’s degree, or possess scientific expertise of a corresponding nature. Pedagogical knowledge assimilated at the academic level, or corresponding abilities acquired by other means, is also required. In addition, personal pedagogical ability must have been demonstrated. The applicant’s ability to apply for and receive funding for research projects, and the ability to lead education and research activities are special eligibility requirements.
Assessment criteria
Of special importance are scientific skills within the subject area documented through presentations and publications at leading conferences and journals. Equal weight will be given to the applicants´ ability to pursue education at both undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels in one of the following three areas: software engineering, programming and computer science, autonomous systems and artificial intelligence.
The experience and the ability to develop and renew computer science education is of great importance as well as the ability to supervise master theses. Of importance is also the ability to collaborate with the society at large and the ability to externally communicate information about research and academic development. Industrial experience of relevance to the position as well as the ability to collaborate with other research groups at KTH is of great importance.
The candidate should be able to teach in both English and Swedish. A candidate that is not able to teach in Swedish from the start is expected to obtain this capability during the first two years of the appointment.
