The Vancouver office
of Klohn Crippen Berger Ltd. (KCB) located at 500 – 2955 Virtual Way,
Vancouver, BC V5M 4X6 is looking for a Geotechnical Engineer with experience
working in project teams and keen on developing hands-on international experience.

Duties and
Responsibilities:

  • work
    with diverse teams of discipline engineers, designers and drafters from
    conceptual design through to preliminary and final design and engineering
  • fill a
    specialized technical role focused on tailings storage design, tailings
    and soil behaviour, dam design and related civil engineering and
    operations for projects worldwide, most of which are in extremely
    challenging environments in remote and logistically challenging locations
  • manage
    and execute projects, including time and budget management and quality
    control, deliver projects successfully and be accountable for project
    planning and direction
  • prepare
    and review technical reports, drawings, specifications, bill of
    quantities, and cost estimates
  • go on
    to mine and development sites to solve engineering problems for our
    clients and support construction of our designs
  • sustain
    client relationships and develop new business
  • join a dynamic

  • travel
    to project sites worldwide and to KCB offices in Canada, Australia,
    England and South America

This is a full-time,
permanent role and we expect to offer a salary in the range of $85,000 to
$95,000 per year based on the successful candidate’s educational background and

Qualifications:

If you have
a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil/geotechnical engineering, are
registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer and have a
minimum of 8 years’ relevant engineering experience, we want to hear from
you.

      working on projects related to dam design, tailings and water management
      in the mining industry
    • excellent
      record of project management on projects of varied scope
    • knowledge
      of national and international design guidelines and regulations
    • demonstrated
      ability to lead teams of engineers, technologists or other professional
      staff
    • record
      of solving engineering challenges using first principle or more advanced
      modelling tools
    • field
      experience characterizing a site or monitoring construction
    • providing
      project strategy and direction to the team and client
    • strong
      interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a
      multi-disciplinary team of professionals
    • effective
      verbal and written English communication skills
    • Spanish
      language skills to coordinate and work with our South American operations
      and clients is considered an asset
    • demonstrated
      report writing skills
    • strong
      analytical skills
    • initiative,
      innovation and commitment to technical excellence
    • ability
      to travel domestically and internationally, occasionally to remote
      environments with limited communication or logistical support
