Careers have been engaged by a major financial services provider to assist in
the appointment of their Head of Technology Risk. Managing a team of
professionals as part of a second line of defence function, you will be
responsible for the provision of IT risk management and security advice to key
stakeholders including senior management. Furthermore, you will provi

de
expertise around best practice, process and policy improvement.

Key
responsibilities include:
  • Implement
    and monitor IT risk policies within the banks broader risk management
    framework.
  • Play
    a key role in developing risk strategies in order to identify,
    monitor and control IT risks.
  • Challenge
    and influence key stakeholders around the appropriateness and benefits of
    IT risk management.
  • Work
    closely with the line 1 technology risk teams; helping them to understand
    key risks, providing training and advice on policies and best practice,
    and providing assistance regarding technology changes.
  • Play
    a key role as a subject matter expert in terms of the assessment of IT
    risk management within the groups broader risk management framework.
  • Report
    on the firms IT risk profile and compliance with relevant regulatory
    requirements, and management policies.
Suitable
candidates require the following skill set:
  • University
    educated, with a relevant degree in Business, Computer Science/Security.
  • At
    least 10 years of experience in an equivalent Head of IT Risk Management,
    or Head of IT Audit appointment. 
  • Deep
    understanding of regulatory obligations pertaining to information
    technology.
  • Significant
    experience and understanding of ITIL and COBIT within the financial
    services industry.
  • Sound
    understanding of both IT application and IT infrastructure domains.
  • Excellent
    relationship management skills, with the ability to influence key
    stakeholders, and affect change.
  • Excellent
    verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present to a
    wide audience including senior management.
