We look at character not collateral, when providing youth, age 18-34, with pre-launch coaching, business resources, start-up financing and mentoring, to help them launch and sustain a successful entrepreneurial business.
Human Resources Assistant

Position Summary:
The mandate of the Human Resources Assistant is to work alongside the human resources team to support the HR functions across the organization. Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, This newly created role is integral to ensuring CYBF meets its short and long-term goals in keeping with the organization’s mission, values and objectives.

The Role:
• Provide assistance with administrative and technical support for HR activities
• Assist in the recruitment process: consult with other areas to develop job descriptions; prepare and post positions; pre-screen applicants; prepare questions; conduct reference checks; prepare employment contracts; create a new hire packages; and, assist in the coordination of all new hire activities
• Coordinate the administration of employee benefits programs including additions, changes, deletions and monthly reconciliations
• Perform customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions
• Responsible for vacation planning and tracking by processing request forms upon submission and providing confirmation to employees
• Responsible for maintaining employee files, ensuring updates are made for audit purposes.
• Assist with the creation, reviewing and revision of an HR policies, guidelines and procedures
• Recommend new policies and procedures to effect company improvements and organizational efficiencies
• Coordinate the preparation of the performance review process
• Assist and prepare correspondence as required
• Assist with payroll functions as required
• Liaise as necessary with internal groups and external suppliers
• Assist with the development of ‘good practices’ and continuous improvement initiatives
• Participate in HR planning and forecasting
• Contribute to other departmental projects as required
• Other duties and projects as necessary

Qualifications:
• Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management or a similar role
• 1 year of experience in a similar role or internship position
• Previous experience in a not-for-profit would be an asset;
• Confidentiality, tact and discretion
• Excellent analytical, organizational, written and communication skills, and
• Exceptional attention to detail and very well organized
• Demonstrated flexibility and entrepreneurial spirit
• Strong sense of responsibility and accountability
• Effective communicator
• Ability to handle a heavy and varied workload and multiple tasks with a short deadline
• Strong planning skills
• Dedicated team player
• Bilingualism (English and French) an asset
• Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office 2010)
