s for the IRC in Uganda has been supporting young people – particularly
girls and women – to become effective, productive citizens and agents of change
in maintaining healthy, peaceful societies by providing entrepreneurial and
life skills and related support.
Position Summary:
The IRC is seeking a Skills
Development Specialist for the upcoming USAID Uganda Youth Leadership for
Agriculture project, which will focus on expanding economic opportunities for
youth in the Feed the Future districts. The Skills Development Specialist will
be responsible for technical leadership and oversight for activities designed
to strengthen the technical, entrepreneurial, and work force readiness skills
of children/youth aged 10 – 25.
Experience/Qualifications
- Minimum of six years’ experience in workforce
development or youth activities for the targeted age group and
girls/women. - Experience working with local youth organizations to
design and deliver workforce and life skills training and services to
youth. - Demonstrated high level technical and analytical skills.
- A minimum of a Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in
education, business, or other relevant field or a Bachelor’s Degree in a
relevant field with 10 years of relevant experience. - Strong interpersonal skills and talent for productively
interacting with a wide range of organizations and stakeholders
(government, private sector, NGOs, and donors). - Experience working with international development
organizations in East Africa; experience working in Uganda preferred. - Strong written and oral English skills.
