including health, education, microfinance, governance and agriculture.

Description:
Innovations
for Poverty Action (IPA-Rwanda) in collaboration with Catholic Relief Services
(CRS) and GiveDirectly seeks to evaluate the cost effectiveness of two
programs: an Integrated Nutrition and Wash Activity (INWA) and a Household
Grant Program to improve the health and economic outcomes of households
(Ubudehe I) with young (age below five) children at risk of poor growth
outcomes for villages enrolled in the study from two districts: Kayonza and
Nyabihu.
Position
Summary
:
 
The
Research Nurse position provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands
on experience in a
field setting with a vibrant organization undertaking cutting
edge development research.
The Research Nurse will work closely with the research staff and field staff to
perform a variety of tasks including, but not limited to:
  • Conduct
    interviews to research participants in the field, chosen by the IPA Field
    Manager and/ or Research Associate;
  • Take
    blood samples from participants and performing laboratory tests in order
    to produce reliable and precise data to support the study;
  • Be
    willing to work in rural areas and stay overnight, for 5 days in a week.
  • Adhere
    to all IPA survey and data protocols;
  • Perform
    other duties related to the project that may be assigned to him/her, such
    as, but not limited to, testing the questionnaire and making arrangements
    for his/her interviews;
  • Be
    responsible for maintaining good relations with IPA, its employees,
    partner organizations and project participants;
  • Take
    care of sensitive equipment through the fieldwork;
  • Advise
    wherever applicable on referral of cases to closest health facility
  • Transmit
    data collected to her/his Supervisor on a daily basis.
Qualifications:
A
successful Research Nurse is detail-oriented and has excellent organizational
skills and will be committed to our high standards of data quality. The
position requires strong leadership and communication skills. In addition, the
following qualifications and experience are desired:
  • Holds
    at least an A1 Diploma in Nursing/Midwifery or Laboratory from a
    recognized institution;
  • At
    least 2 years of experience working on qualitative and quantitative
    data collection specifically in clinical studies will be an added
    advantage. Having worked on Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) will be
    considered as an advantage;
  • Prior
    experience with Computer Assisted Interviewing (specifically SurveyCTO),
    is preferred;
  • In
    addition to English, written and spoken fluency in Kinyarwanda is
    essential;
  • Ability
    to maintain confidentiality;
  • Strong
    communications skills.
  • Interest
    in travelling and passion for poverty-related research.
