iMMAP is a pioneering organization that is leading the way forward in the effective use of information management practices and principles in the service of humanitarian relief and development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for an experienced GIS expert to assist in quickly addressing project application development requirements with the following responsibilities:
• The incumbent is expected to be highly proficient in GIS software, especially ESRI products.
• S/he should have experience in the production of thematic maps (e.g. food security), topographic maps and satellite imagery for professional end users
• S/he should have substantial experience in working with database, data entry, data cleaning, data standardization
• S/he is expected to develop new documentation / update current documentation on the various metadata.
• Ensure all activities are properly documented and timely reported to Senior Information Management Officer.
• Provide technical solutions under extreme pressure and tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
• Advanced degree in Geography, GIS, Information Sciences
• At least 5 years’ experience in GIS, map development
• Up-to-date in-depth experience working with ESRI products
• Knowledge of the humanitarian sector, especially NGOs, humanitarian clusters, UNOCHA
DESIRED
• Good interpersonal and communication skills in English,
• Experience in user support would be an advantage,
• Proven ability and experience interacting with a wide range of public and humanitarian organizations while upholding humanitarian principles of impartiality and neutrality.
