Imbabazi Foundation Various Jobs Vacancies in Rubavu, Rwanda

The NGO, Imbabazi
Foundation, is seeking candidates to fill four senior managerial positions at
its base in Rubavu District (Mudende Sector). All four positions are new,
reflecting the organisation’s new staff structure and expansion. More

1.
Director of Agriculture


The position of
Director of Agriculture is being introduced in the context of an expansion of
Imbabazi’s agricultural activities on its 53 hectares of land.

Responsibilities

The Director of Agriculture
will be responsible for managing the use of Imbabazi’s agricultural land in a
way which brings funds to the Foundation and allows it both to cover its
administrative overheads and carry out activities in the community. This will
include the use of approximately 20 hectares of land which is currently fallow
or under-used and may mean the expansion of Imbabazi’s agricultural activities
into new and experimental areas. Potato and maize production, flowers,
forestry, livestock and speciality vegetable production are all expected to
feature in the Director of Agriculture’s responsibilities. The Director of
Agriculture will work under the supervision of Imbabazi’s Executive Director.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate
should have a university degree in agriculture or a related field plus several
years of working experience.

 

2. 
Director of Education and Children

The position of
Director of Education and Children is being introduced in the context of the
launch of Imbabazi’s pre-school as well as its ongoing links with the children
who used to live in the Imbabazi Orphanage, now closed.

Responsibilities

The Director of
Education and Children will be responsible for overseeing both the Imbabazi
Foundation’s educational activities and its continuing responsibilities for the
mostly teenage children and young adults who used to live in the Imbabazi
Orphanage before its closure in 2012. Many of the Foundation’s educational
activities are now designed to support the local community in Mudende and will
include the use of the former orphanage buildings for a pre-school and possibly
adult education. Imbabazi will also seek to assist schools in the area with
small projects. The Director of Education and Children will also manage
Imbabazi’s funding of the school education of about 25 children, now reunified
with their families, and following and reporting on their progress. The
Director of Education and Children will work under the supervision of
Imbabazi’s Executive Director and alongside a volunteer Programme Manager.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate
should have a university degree in education or a related field plus several
years of working experience in school management or a pre-school.

 

3.
Director of Tourism and Marketing

The position of
Director of Tourism and Marketing is being introduced in the context of the
improvement of Imbabazi’s attractiveness as a tourist attraction and an
expansion of its agricultural production with increased opportunities for sales
and income generation.

Responsibilities

The Director of
Tourism and Marketing will be responsible for overseeing both the Imbabazi
Foundation’s tourism activities and the marketing of the Foundation as an
institution as well as its mainly agricultural production. The Imbabazi
Foundation possesses historical assets such as the original plantation house of
its founder, Roz Carr, the adjacent gardens and a newly-established museum, all
of which have put Imbabazi on the tourist map. The Director of Tourism and
Marketing will be responsible for enhancing Imbabazi’s tourism potential and
attractiveness for visitors. Alongside this, the Director of Tourism and
Marketing will also be responsible for the marketing of Imbabazi’s image, and
also its production of crops, flowers, speciality vegetables and livestock in a
way which brings maximum benefit to the Foundation and its activities.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate
should have a university degree in tourism or marketing or a related field plus
several years of working experience in marketing.

 

4.
Assistant to Executive Director

The position of
Assistant to the Executive Director is being introduced in the context of the
expansion of Imbabazi’s activities and operations and its increasing
professionalism as a Rwandan NGO operating in the fields of agriculture, education
and tourism.

Responsibilities

The Assistant to the
Executive Director will work mainly on the administration and management of the
Imbabazi Foundation, managing or establishing proper records in accordance with
best practice and Rwandan legislation. The Assistant will manage all
administrative matters on the ground at Imbabazi’s area of operations from
accounting to procurement, human resources and logistics. The Assistant will
work to, and in close coordination with, the Executive Director.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate
should have a university degree in Business Administration or a related field
plus several years of working experience in an NGO or commercial enterprise.
