any type of network marketing or direct sales business is a People business
first and foremost. People join people, not businesses. And they’re more likely
to sign up with you or buy a product from you if they get to know, like and
trust you first.
A lot of people make the mistake of practicing “in-your-face” instead
of “face-to-face” marketing tactics. That’s not something you want to
do. It may actually hurt your reputation.
My best tip is when you do meet someone you’d like to be friendly with, just
stroll up and start making small talk, like chatting with a friend. You want to
start making “friends” with people first, and build a relationship
with them.
Get to know them and their interests and don’t even mention your business. You
can chat about kids, household stuff, hobbies, cars, etc. and let them ask you
what you do, where you work, etc.
Then simply say you work from home online, and let them ask more questions.
Then you have to gauge their responses. If they seem interested in learning
more, give them a little more at a time, but don’t be aggressive or overly
excited.
You want to subtly lead them into asking you more questions; pique their
interest a little at a time.
For example, they may ask what the company does or what they sell. Just mention
one or two things, but not everything all at once.
As an example, if you buy and use one of the household products or one of the
vitamin supplements, you can mention one or two of those and how much you like
them. And again, let them ask you more questions so you can gauge their
interest.
