Hardware Engineer
Dyson offers a unique opportunity for talented individuals to design and develop market leading products for the global market. By working in our world class Research Design and Development department, these individuals have the opportunity to work alongside leading technical specialists and highly motivated creative people, to create products which fulfill our ambition of being truly different and better than our competitors.
To join a team of Hardware and Software engineers to design and develop Dyson’s expanding product portfolio. The projects are varied from design development to high volume product development. This post is for an analogue biased hardware engineer.
This is what we need you to do…
• Work with the design engineers to define the product requirements
• Turn product requirements into hardware and test specifications
• Delivery of a hardware design which meets specification, cost and time requirements
• Detailed design work ensuring detailed, accountable written records are kept
• Aid production introduction
• Develop and mentor junior engineers
• Effective collaboration and liaison with appropriate technical departments in Dyson UK and Dyson Malaysia
This is what we need you to have…
• A good degree in a relevant engineering discipline. Preferred applicants will have a Masters or PhD
• 3 to 5 Years professional experience in the following areas:
• Power Electronics, Triacs; IGBTs; FETs, Offline power supplies, SMPS – 5-100W, Motor control (AC, DC, Brushless), Mains voltage ancillary components (pumps, solenoids etc…)
• Low Level Analogue, Sensor interfacing (magnetic, optical, current etc…), Short range RF 315MHz, IR remotes
• Embedded microcontroller based platforms, 8-bit microcontrollers (Atmel, PIC, Zilog etc…)
• High reliability techniques, Circuit Analysis –Simulation; Montecarlo, Circuit electrical and thermal performance calculations, FMEA, FTA
• High volume market, Cost effective, High reliability
• Knowledge in Home Appliance Safety Requirement
• Full PDLC management experience/track record
• Experience in System Architecture Design & Tool (EA/UML) – PLUS
• Knowledge in EMC/ESD is a PLUS
• Knowledge in wiring design is a PLUS
• Experience is Design QA, DFM, DFX, DFMEA is a PLUS
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to travel to UK for project transfer desirable
• Ability to travel to Johor Bahru for production ramp up desirable
