Growing Gardens delivers personalized garden care

to clients who love
their gardens. We use current, organic, sustainable horticultural
practices, amending and caring for soil ecosystems, create custom
seasonal urns, design and install permanent and annual plantings,
rejuvenate and renovate existing plantings, encourage the use of
natives and edibles, prune shrubs and small trees artistically for
health and longevity, consult and educate our clientele.

Assistant to a Master Gardener

Opportunity for an individual possessing a passion for plants and
gardening to expand their skills and knowledge of current
horticultural/environmental practices on residential garden projects
in the GTA.

Position is seasonal, $15 hourly to start. Located near High Park in
Toronto’s west end. Must be able to use TTC to work.

Qualifications:
• Love of the outdoors
• Interest in gardening
• Good plant knowledge
• Ability to identify weeds
• Experience with planting, maintenance and other landscaping activities
• Proven ability to take direction
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Capable of physical labour in all weather
• Can lift, push, pull 36Kg
• Clean Ontario Class G with driver’s abstract is an asset
• Experience driving in Toronto and GTA is an asset
• Landscape diploma or certification or equivalent experience is
absolutely necessary
• Keen eye for detail
• Safety focused
• Organized/Practical/Friendly

Duties:
• Carry out routine garden maintenance
• Assist with purchase and delivery of plant materials and supplies
• Prepare garden beds, soil work, mulch
• Planting, garden care,
• Care of perishable plant materials
• Load/Unload trucks

The ideal candidate can adapt to the unexpected, use good judgment, be
generous, find efficiencies, work hard, recognize beauty, and bring a
positive outlook to the daily work environment. A capacity for
creativity and a sense of humour will be welcomed. All of these would
