What is Greenpeace?
Greenpeace is a not-for-profit campaigning organization that uses
peaceful direct action, political lobbying, scientific research and
market pressure to expose global problems. Greenpeace also researches
solutions and alternatives that are essential to a green and peaceful
future.
Door-to-Door Fundraising Canvasser

The primary function of the Greenpeace Canvasser is to approach
members of the public door to door and ask them to support Greenpeace
through a monthly giving program to sustain ourselves as a Non-profit
environmental lobby group. Fundraisers are required to average a
minimum standard in monthly donations per day, averaged over a
two-week period.
Days
We have shifts running Mondays to Fridays. Full time employees are
expected to work 7-10 shifts bi-weekly, 7 hours per shift.
Hours
2:00pm-9:30pm
Pay
Pay starts at a flat wage of $16.00/hr with an opportunity of hitting
daily bonuses when targets are met. There is also a generous health
and dental benefits package for full time canvassers.
Teams
We work in a team environment. All canvassers are paired with someone
else each day for safety but go to doors alone.
Work Sites
Vancouver—almost all of our sites are found within the city limits of
Vancouver proper. Some exceptions exist, however these sites are
always easily accessed by public transit.
Sometimes we take travel trips to fundraise in other cities which
require staying overnight– these are optional.
First Engagement Canvasser
First Engagement Canvassers approach members of the public, tell them
about a Greenpeace campaign and ask them to sign a petition. These
canvassers are the first contact that many members of the public have
with Greenpeace so it is their role to create an accessible and
welcoming first impression of Greenpeace. It is required that all
canvassers gather a minimum number of petition signatures each day.
Days
We have shifts running Mondays-Friday, sometimes weekends. Full time
employees are expected to work 7-10 shifts bi-weekly, 6-7 hours per
shift. Part-time hours are also available.
Hours
11am-6pm Monday, Wednesday & Friday. 10am-6pm Tuesday & Thursday.
Pay
Pay starts at a flat wage of $16.00/hr with an opportunity of hitting

We work in a team environment. Each day canvassers work together in
different groups of 2-4.

Learning about Greenpeace and the Environment
As a Greenpeace fundraiser or First Engagement canvasser you will be
provided with a full training to teach you the fundamentals of
canvassing. You also will be provided with information about
Greenpeace’s history & campaigns. You are responsible for your own
level of knowledge on current issues– the more you know the more
capable you are to answer questions asked by the public.
Weather Policy
Canvassers are expected to work in all weather conditions, unless
weather conditions are extreme such as heat waves (above 35 degrees
Celsius), cold waves (below -35 degree Celsius), ice storms, etc..
