Student Research Intern Contract Position Available (Spring / Summer 2015)
The Person: We are looking for a talented, enthusiastic,
solutions-focused individual to assist us in this unique research
project. The successful candidate will be sincerely interested in
Greening Niagara’s mission and improving local food security.
Job Description: Work directly with Greening Niagara to compile
existing research on heat and drought tolerances of food crops. Data
collected will be shared amongst businesses, organizations,
municipalities, youth and the farming community in workshops and
presentations at the end of work term.
Your duties include:
• Collecting, compiling existing research needed to complete report
• Creating an inventory of research to be used by yourself and others
• Working with Greening Niagara, and the Preservation of Agricultural
Lands for research goals
• Working independently to collect information and meet deadlines
• Organizing large amounts of research in efficient formats
• Develop, maintain and ensure accuracy of all required data bases
• Compiling research for presentation format
• Provide presentations, reports
Skills/Qualifications include:
• Excellent communication skills
• Proven experience with all Microsoft programs
• Previous academic research and writing skills
• Strong leadership, training, presentation and facilitation skills
• Attention to detail; adaptable and self-starter
• Creative problem solving skills, research, design and organizational skills
• A sincere interest in supporting the research’s general idea, and
Greening Niagara’s mission
