1. Background

Greater Virunga Transboundary Collaboration is an initiative of the Protected
Areas Authorities in the three countries of Rwanda, Uganda and Democratic
Republic of Congo. An executive secretariat has been set up to coordinate
transboundary related activities intended to strengthen biodiversity
conservation and protected area management within the transboundary Protected
area network. The Secretariat desires to recruit a Communication Officer.

2. Position: Communication Officer

3. Essential duties:

• Routinely update the Secretariat’s b-lingual website and social media,
ensuring that the relevant information from the three countries is synthesized,
on-message and posted timely and appropriately.
• Produce and send e-newsletters to stakeholders;
• Monitor online visibility and website analytics
• Liaise directly institutional partners and the media concerning news related
to the transboundary landscape.
• Work with communication consultants and firms to provide them with timely,
relevant information and to guide in the production of communication materials
as necessary;
• Monitor and facilitate the development of intranet for use by all
stakeholders to inform each other and coordinate joint activities;
• Ensure mailing lists and databases are kept up-to-date;
• Archive photos and video resources as well as media coverage;
• Support  the publication  of brochures, newsletters and annual
reports
• Edit and format  projects reports to retain the GVTC brand
• Support in fundraising through documentary of visual, audio and written
accounts of the field expenses and lessons learned
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

4. Location of Employment

This is the national position based in Kigali. The candidates must also be
willing to travel within the region (Uganda, Rwanda and DR- Congo) as necessary
to complete the work for the position.

5. Supervision:
The communication officer will be supervised by the Transboundary Executive
Secretary.

6. Qualification
• Successful candidate must have a university degree in mass communication,
communication, journalism or related field
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in the same field;
• The ideal candidate will be fluent in both French and English;
• The ideal candidate will have clear experience  with managing website
and social media;
• The candidates will have clear experience in project 
management/reporting;
• Must be will to work in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual working
environment;
• Must be a self-starter who can problem solve.

7. Requirements to Apply:
• A motivation letter addressed to the Executive Secretary of GVTC; Detailed
CV; Certified academic document.
A driving license at least three years of experience is an added advantage.

8. Employment status:
This position is on one-year position, with possible renewal
