Description
The AHT is
responsible for pr
oviding medical services to the entire GVZoo animal
collection, to promote their health and welfare, under the direction of the
GVZoo Veterinarian (contracted) and the Animal Care Manager. In addition, the
AHT oversees the operation of the Animal Care Complex including hospitalized
and quarantined animals, as well as administrative duties for medical/animal records
and staff supervision. The applicant must also have good communication skills
to work as a member of a team, as well as with the public when required.
This is a permanent
full-time position. Schedule will vary. Must be willing to work
weekends and holidays, and have the ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

Requirements
–
Animal Health Technologist Diploma or equivalent combination of related
training and experience required.
–
Minimum three years of technical experience and a minimum of two years exotic
animal experience or equivalent.

Current experience and knowledge of natural history, principles of animal
behavior, preventative medicine and general animal husbandry required.
–
Must demonstrate good time management skills, including flexibility,
creativity, and responsibility in use of time.
–
Experience with multiple taxonomic groups (e.g., carnivores, birds, hoof stock,
reptiles) preferred.
–
Responsibilities include clinical support, laboratory protocols and analyses,
diagnostics and medical treatment, assessing animal physical and nutritional
requirements, equipment and inventory maintenance and completing and upkeep of
medical records.
