BACKGROUND
Good
Neighbors International (GNI) is an international humanitarian and development
Non- Governmental Organization in General Consultative Status with the United
Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC). GNI strives to improve lives,
especially children’s lives, through community development projects. In order
to complete its staff, Good Neighbors International would like to
recruitdifferent staff with the following positions:
Position:
WASH Coordinator
Based
in Kigali
Key
responsibilities include;
  • Identify
    priority areas and lead the implementation of the WASH component to ensure
    technical and programmatic quality of the project
  • Assess
    WASH needs and design appropriate infrastructure for WASH service delivery
  • Contribute
    towards development of program implementation approaches and strategies
  • Facilitate
    stakeholder capacity enhancement through participatory hygiene and
    sanitation approaches (CHAST, PHAST etc.) through which WASH activities
    can be implemented
  • Mobilize
    and facilitate the engagements of stakeholders during planning and
    development meetings and workshops.
  • Work
    together with other WASH team members to ensure that the various aspects
    of the WASH response are integrated, and that they form part of a coherent
    public health response.
  • Develop
    appropriate technical and social training packages and modules for Hygiene
    and Sanitation including Environmental sanitation to enhance the capacity
    of community
Qualifications
and skills;
  • The
    candidate must be bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Environmental
    Health, and Water & Sanitation Engineering.
  • Minimum
    of 3 years’ experience in initiation, planning and implementation of WASH
    projects according to internal and national guidelines.
  • Knowledge
    and experience of working with rural communities & local government
    authorities in a remote post conflict setting
  • Understanding
    of the principles behind and experience in the implementation of WASH
    program, CHAST, PHAST amongst others.
  • Strong
    knowledge of potable water systems and technologies, various sanitation
    interventions, and community hygiene training.
