Background
Global Communities formerly CHF International Rwanda is
implementing a five year (2011-2016) Integrated Improved Livelihoods Project
named Ejo Heza, which aims at improving the livelihoods and
food consumption of 75,000 poor Rwandans, particularly women, by helping
low-income households access the financial services and technical assistance
necessary to grow their enterprises. USAID Ejo Heza is an integrated
development program focusing on agriculture, financial services, literacy,
health and nutrition.

Under
Wal-Mart Foundation funding USAID Ejo Heza will expand its reach to an
additional 50,000 farmers, mostly women, engaged in
the agriculture value chains of dairy, horticulture, maize and beans. It will
also provide health and nutrition training to the farmers.

experienced Training Specialist for a period of 2 years.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Training Specialist is responsible for the
implementation of training focused on the selected agriculture value chains of
dairy, horticulture, maize, beans and also training in health and nutrition.
The training specialist is also responsible for the development of appropriate
adult learning based modules to be used by facilitators in the field.

Key responsibilities are:
- Identify
and assess capacities, gaps and technical assistance needs of
targeted farmers and develop capacity building work
plans - Develop
and adapt farmers’ training module related to selected value
chains, monitoring tools and other communication materials for Field
Officers; - Plan
, organize and conduct Master Training for Field officers and
provide technical support facilitator trainings - Provide
regular technical backstopping to Field Officers and RPOs through regular
field visits and meetings to ensure quality of trainings; - Provide
a technical support to Rwanda Partner Organizations’ (RPOs) to organize
famer trainings in selected value chains - Organize
and plan per agricultural season and provide technical follow up on
Farmer Field School activities; - Regularly
collect all data related to training beneficiaries and season activities; - Organize
regularly planning and monitoring meeting with Facilitators - Provide
periodic reports as required
Qualification and
Experience required
Experience required
- Be
a Rwandan - University
degree in agriculture, nutrition or other related field. - 5
years field experience working with rural populations in agriculture,
livestock (dairy) and horticulture (fruits and vegetables) - Experience
in implementing health and nutrition activities required - Proven
expertise implementing farmer field schools - Demonstrated
capacity using adult based learning techniques - Excellent
report writing and presentation skills - Communication
skills in written and verbal English and fluency in Kinyarwanda
Working Conditions
This position requires travel to the target districts. At least 70
% of the person’s time will be in the field.
