change in the developing world: the Girl Effect. The Girl Effect has proven
effective at the local level in a variety of ways, and has gained momentum both
with girls in the regions where we work and internationally via attracting
critical partners. The time has come for the Girl Effect to be taken to scale,
and this position playing a critical role in the success of this endeavor.
Overview:
The Finance Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Finance &
Operations Manager ensuring good accounting practice, corporate reporting and
audit/donor/tax compliance.
Main
Responsibilities:
The finance coordinator leads and manages the account function for Girl Hub
Rwanda. He/she will provide the full range of finance support required to
facilitate the efficient delivery of Girl Hub Rwanda’s objectives.
Key responsibilities will be:
• Sound financial management and accounting
• Ensure audit / donor / tax compliance
• Provide regular reporting of actual spend vs
budget
• Support the budgeting and reforecast
process
• Provide financial support as required by the Country Director to
ensure effective monitoring and management of the GHR budget – both programme
and administration
We are looking for someone who is passionate about our work and who is looking

Key Duty :
1)Financial Accounting
Responsibilities:
• Payroll processing for GHR employees
• Daily accounting of transactions.
• Perform monthly close of books.
• Maintain all balance sheet and P&L schedules as required on
monthly basis.
• Liaise with both the Nike Foundation Team in the US as well as
the Girl Hub office in London.
2)Asset / inventory
management
Responsibilities:
• Ensure that all assets >£500 are recorded in the asset
register and the asset register is kept updated at all times
• Ensure all assets are uniquely identified, marked and recorded
in the asset register
• Conduct quarterly asset verification
3)Cash management
Responsibilities:
• Manage petty cash and bank cashbook and ensure reconciliation is
done on monthly basis.
• Monitor funds and cash flow to keep an optimum cash and bank
balance.
• Process payments from the local bank account.
• Ensure adequate documentation is maintained.
• Manage payments made from the US.
4)Audit
Responsibilities:
• Ensure adherence to local statutory and tax requirements.
• Provide documentation and explanations to external and internal
auditors as required.
•Maintain
financial documents for completeness, accuracy and compliance with local and GH
accounting rules.
5)Finance Reporting
Responsibilities:
• Develop and prepare monthly management accounts and expenditures
reportsand
share with GHR team to identify variances against planned budget and take
corrective action.
• Supports the Finance & Operations Manager during the yearly
budgeting and quarterly reforecast
process with the preparation of templates and consolidation of returns.
• Work closely with the programme
teams to present the monthly accounts and support them on the budget / reforecast.
• Verify availability of budget prior to TOR development for goods
and services.
6)Adhoc
Responsibilities:
• Support on additional adhoc
requests as and when required
• Take initiative in implementing improved means of working and
contribute to Girl Hub policies.
Essential
skills and experience:
• Professional knowledge and qualifications in financial
management and accounting.
• Minimally experience in an AP function, ideally experience in
managing the overall accounts of an organization.
• Experience in management accounting / reporting.
