Job Description
The National AIDS/STI Control programme of the Ghana Health Service invites
applications from suitably qualified candidates, as per the detailed person
specification indicated below for appointment.
Job Purpose:
- Provide training for laboratory. personnel on routine
laboratory. tests and assist in provision of special services in clinical
and reference/diagnostics arrears as may be directed. - Document and keep accurate records (log) and maintain
good clinical laboratory practice - Provide a high standard of technical service as a member
of the health care team to assist in effective delivery of patient care - Ensure equipment in the laboratories are well maintained
to the standards required by the GHS and by relevant legislation - Implement quality assurance (QA) measures of technical
procedures - Assist in research, evaluation of new techniques and
laboratory audits - Monitors storage ,usage and stock of test kits and reagent
for timely reporting - Plans, prepares procurement and distribution schedules
of laboratory commodities as required - Assist the surveillance unit in all surveys and support
development of survey protocols and provide necessary training - Collaborate with units in laboratory component of all
trainings - Perform any other related official duties that may be
assigned

Required Skills or
Experience
- Should possess a first degree in medical laboratory
technology. Advanced degree in Microbiology or Public Health may be an
added advantage - Should have worked in a reputable hospital or laboratory
for at least 5 years - Must have considerable knowledge and experience in
laboratory management - Should be conversant with relevant ISO standards and
CLSI guidelines for laboratories - Should be conversant with stringent laboratory quality
assurance procedures and processes - Be a team player, have effective communication skills
(both written and oral) - Ability to carry out duties independently and
effectively - Should pay attention to detail and have very good
analytical skills - Should be willing to work outside the office and travel
frequently for field work
