Chiefs of Division
Ongoing (2 Positions), SES Band 2 equivalent

Geoscience Australia is the world leader in providing first class geoscientific information and knowledge which enables government and community to make informed decisions about the exploitation of resources, the management of the environment, the safety of critical infrastructure and the resultant well-being of all Australians.
The Chief of Division is responsible for the strategic leadership and management of either the Minerals and Natural Hazards or the Environmental Geoscience Divisions’ programs. As a member of Geoscience Australia’s Executive Board, the incumbent will also contribute to the overall strategic management of the agency.
To be a strong contender for these roles, you will have an appropriate PhD from an Australian university or comparable overseas qualifications, or other comparable qualifications relevant to the agency. You will have extensive scientific research ability, a thorough scientific publishing record and a breadth and depth of scientific interests. You will also require the potential to vary your interest to accept responsibility for scientific research across broad fields. You will have an outstanding degree of people management skills, the ability to motivate and stimulate a large team to achieve optimum results.
