JOB
PURPOSE:

The
Project Accountant is responsible for providing financial support for the
Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health research program, Strong Families,
Thriving Children, based in Kigali, Rwanda implemented by FXB Rwanda. He/she
will be responsible for ensuring compliance with donor requirements and
organizational finance and administration procedures. He/she will manage
financial reporting to a consortium of funders andwork with the finance team at
FXB Rwanda to verify payments for field activities and ensure accountabilities
for field activity advances are accurate and obtained on time.
Major
Responsibilities
  • Assist
    in the preparation and coordination of financial projections and budget
    execution reports to a consortium of funders
  • Record
    the accounting transactions on a timely basis
  • Maintain
    proper filing of the accounting records
  • Verify
    payments for field activities and ensure accountabilities for field
    activity advances are accurate and obtained on time
  • Collaborate
    with FXB Rwanda finance team to ensure that payment orders are classed to
    the appropriate funder
  • Verify
    whether the payments are in accordance with the annual budgets and prepare
    monthly budget execution reports
  • Verify
    whether all the support documents are accurate, complete and have followed
    the procurement procedures of the organization
  • Participate
    in meetings and other events organized by donors and other stakeholders
    related to finance
  • Provide
    the information required during the annual audit of the organization and
    project audits
  • Assist
    the Program Manager in compiling monthly and quarterly financial reports
    to donors
  • Update
    regularly the inventory of assets
  • Facilitate
    the external audit of the project and any other internal audit that may be
    arranged periodically
  • Perform
    other related duties as required.
DESIRED
COMPETENCES
  • Minimum
    of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • At
    least 2 years of experience in a similar position
  • Excellent
    verbal and written communication skills in English or French and
    Kinyarwanda
  • Knowledge
    of Quickbooks accounting software desirable
  • Have
    experience in and be familiar with USAID implementation programs
    desirable.
