Energy and Environment Specialist
Report

Director
FVA
is a  non governemental  Organization registered in 2003 with legal
personality No 13/11 whose mission is“ Facilitating processes that eradicate
poverty, improve public health, promote and protect children and women

’s
rights; promotion of energy and environment good practices and help communities
in capacity building programs aimed at the transformation of society.

In
the framework of promoting good practices of energy and environment, FVA would
like to recruit Energy and Environment Specialist.
Roles
and Responsibilities
Energy:
  • Devise
    a strategy for reducing energy costs and environmental impact in the
    communities
  • Coordinate
    energy activities of FVA
  • Develop
    a programme of energy-saving projects
  • Maintain
    a register of energy-saving opportunities
  • Measure
    and verify the savings achieved
  • Monitor
    and advice on legislation, regulations, and carbon trading schemes
  • Keep
    the beneficiaries well informed of potential energy and water saving
    products
  • Maintain
    records of energy data for reference whenever need be
  • Maintain
    links with current and potential energy suppliers
  • Prepare
    invitations to tender for energy supplies
  • Collect
    weather statistics, occupancy and production figures, and other
    measureable
Variable
factors which affect energy consumption
  • Collate
    comparative data and yardstick figures for benchmarking purposes
  • Participate
    in energy benchmarking groups
  • Conduct
    or arrange staff awareness and motivation programmes
  • Operate
    an energy-saving suggestion scheme
  • Devise,
    commission and deliver or supervise energy training programmes
  • Report
    on energy consumption and costs, associated transmission and distribution
    costs,
Budget
variances, costs of exceptions, and savings achieved
  • Assist
    with the preparation of energy budgets
  • Assist
    in the development of energy-conscious design, maintenance, and operation
    policies
Environment:
  • To
    implement environmental policies and practices of FVA
  • devising
    strategies to meet targets and to encourage best practice
  • devising
    the best tools and systems to monitor performance and to implement
    strategies
  • ensuring
    compliance with environmental legislation
  • assessing,
    analyzing and collating environmental performance data and reporting
    information to internal staff, clients and regulatory bodies
  • confirming
    that materials, ingredients and so on are ethically or environmentally
    sourced
  • managing
    environmental strategy budgets
  • liaising
    with internal staff including senior managers and directors
  • acting
    as a champion or cheerleader for environmental issues within your
    organization
  • providing
    environmental training to staff at all levels
  • writing
    plans and reports on energy and environment activities
  • keeping
    up to date with relevant changes in environmental legislation and
    initiatives including international legislation where applicable
  • producing
    educational or information resources for internal staff, clients or the
    general public
  • liaising
    with regulatory bodies such as the national environment Agency
Required
Skills and Experience:
  • Must
    possess a degree or a master’s degree from a recognized University in
    energy and environment-related subjects – which could include engineering,
    environmental health, environmental sciences/management, biosciences, applied
    science, physics or geography and energy related science.
  • Must
    have not less than three years of experience in energy, environment and
    burning peat promotion activities
  • Must
    have genuine interest in and understanding of environmental and energy
    issues, relevant legislation and renewable energy sources
  • Excellent
    communication and influencing skills
  • The
    ability to take the lead on projects
  • The
    ability to inspire others
  • Attention
    to detail and a methodical approach to work
  • Good
    organization and time management
  • Commercial
    awareness: the ability to work within commercial constraints
