Fully Funded BEI Postgraduate Research Studentships in UK

Birkbeck, University of London is offering 14 fully
funded postgraduate research studentships within the School of
Business, Economics and Informatics (BEI). Candidates will be considered for
admission first and for the award only after they have been offered a
MPhil/PhD place in the Departments of Computer Science and
Information Systems; Economics, Mathematics and Statistics; Management; and
Organizational Psychology. Studentships will be awarded in spring 2014, to be
taken up in the 2014-15 academic year. The application deadline is 14
March 2014.

Study Subject (s): Students applying for an MPhil/PhD place in the Departments of
Computer Science and Information Systems; Economics, Mathematics
and Statistics; Management; and Organizational Psychology are eligible to
apply for these awards.
Course Level: Studentships are available for pursuing
postgraduate research programme (MPhil/PhD) within the School of Business,
Economics and Informatics at Birkbeck, University of London.

Eligibility: The competition is primarily open to new Home/EU and International
students who are applying for a full-time MPhil/PhD place. Students applying
for an MPhil/PhD place in the Departments of Computer Science and Information
Systems; Economics, Mathematics and Statistics; Management; and Organizational
Psychology are eligible to apply for these awards. Applications for part-time
study will also be considered, at an appropriate pro-rata rate and extended
duration. Candidates will be expected to be in possession of a suitable
Master’s degree with a strong quantitative component and an average grade of no
less than 60% across all modules.
Scholarship Open for International Students: UK/EU and international students can apply for these postgraduate
research studentships.
Scholarship Description: Applications are invited for full-time PhD studentships in the
Department of Economics, Mathematics & Statistics, starting in October
2014. The studentship will cover fees, plus an annual stipend of approximately
£13,726. The studentships are open to full-time home, EU and international
students. Candidates must submit both a college application form for a place in
the MPhil/PhD programme and the application for a studentship. Candidates will
be considered for admission first and for the award only after they have been
offered a place in the programme. Candidates will be expected to be in
possession of a suitable Master’s degree with a strong quantitative component
and an average grade of no less than 60% across all modules.
Number of award(s): The School of Business, Economics and Informatics will award up to 14
fully-funded Postgraduate Research Studentships in 2014.
Duration of award(s): Studentships will be awarded in spring 2014, to be taken up in the
2014-15 academic year. They will be tenable for up to 3 years (subject to the
holder making satisfactory performance, as assessed through the College’s
regular structures for reviewing the performance of doctoral students).
What does it cover? These  postgraduate research studentships include a
number of Birkbeck ‘Anniversary Scholarships’ offered by the College to mark
the 190th anniversary of its foundation. The fully-funded awards will include a
fee waiver up to the value of the full-time home/EU rate for MPhil/PhD degrees
(currently £3,900) in addition to an annual stipend set at Research
Council rates (currently £13,726; pro-rata in the case of a part-time award).
Selection Criteria: The competition will be decided on the basis of academic merit.

Studentship prospective students must also complete an
application for an MPhil/PhD place in the departments above, either before or
at the same time as applying for funding. Once you have applied online for
the relevant MPhil/PhD in the normal way, download the BEIResearch Studentships
Application Form. Your completed studentship application form should
be returned by email to the postgraduate administrator of the department in
which you wish to study and be copied
to BEI-studentships-at-bbk.ac.uk. Please note: when submitting
you studentship application form, the subject line of your
email must state “Application for Research Studentship in School
of BEI”.
