Me to We
Leadership seeks a dynamic individual to empower thousands of youth with
positive messages of social justice and action, through both local and global
Me to We experiences.

This position is to
be filled with a passionate, responsible and confident individual who can lead
Me to We’s international trip experiences for 30 youth participants (mostly
ages 14 – 18) overseas.

Ideal
candidates have experience in:

  • Leading
    groups of youth international travel (ideally to East Africa, Ghana,
    India, China, Ecuador, Nicaragua or the Dominican Republic)
  • Past
    training in safety protocol and risk management for youth programs (or
    similar)
  • Knowledge
    of and ability to teach social issues as well as train leadership and
    action planning skills on a trip.
  • Additional
    language capacity is an asset (Spanish and French in particular)

Contract
Timing:

Ideal candidates
have flexible schedules during the months of March, and/or July and August. We
are looking for some part-time contract positions to be as short as 3 week, and
as long as 8 weeks. Some contracts will begin in early March, others will begin
in mid-June, July and others will begin in August. All part time Trip
Facilitator contracts are specific to the months of March, June, July and
August only.

Training
& Certification requirements include:

  • Availability
    to attend Me to We Trips Facilitator training at our Head Quarter Office
    in Toronto (225 Carlton St) on weekends.
  • March
    Contract – December 13-14, January 10, 11, January 17-18, January 24-25
  • Training
    programs that you will go through upon being hired, and in the country we
    send you to (either East Africa, Ghana, India, China, Ecuador, Nicaragua
    or the Dominican Republic)
  • Certified
    in Standard First Aid and CPR C (proof of certification required)
  • Clear
    Criminal Reference Check including Vulnerable Sector Screening

This position is
based out of the Me to We Office in Toronto (225 Carlton Street) and out of one
of our Me to We Country Offices in either East Africa, Ghana, India, China,
Ecuador, Nicaragua or the Dominican Republic

The
successful candidate should possess but are not limited to the following skills
and qualifications:

  • Displays
    good judgment and common sense in situations of health, safety and group
    travel. Can follow clear standard operating procedures, protocols and
    guidelines that exist for Me to We Trip programs. Ability to document
    on-going issues, and communicate issues with management in Me to We Country
    office and with Toronto office.
  • Acts
    as an ambassador to Me to We, and all of its products, services,
    organization and brand. Represents Me to We with a high level of
    professionalism, passion and dedication.
  • Excellent
    Facilitation Skills: ability to plan, create and deliver leadership skills
    focused workshops, where participants learn through experiential education
    techniques. Ability to use and deliver existing Me to We Leadership
    curriculum to ensure consistent program quality.
  • Strong
    oral and written communication skills
  • Extensive
    knowledge of leadership skills activities and social issues, able to adapt
    and develop workshops to meet specific goals of trip group. Knowledge of
    group dynamics and activities that support the growth of an individual and
    group through a transformative experience
  • Flexible,
    positive, enthusiastic, dynamic, engaging and very willing to work in
    various locations, at various times and in various roles, ability to
    interact effectively with a variety of people from different backgrounds
    and ages
  • A
    passionate interest in social justice issues and the motivation to
    continue their interests in learning more about social justice issues.
    Well versed and knowledgeable on Free The Children’s Adopt A Village
    Holistic International Development Model and work in all of its country
    offices.
  • Strong
    understanding of international development and extensive experience in
    developing countries (and on Me to We trips, specifically)
  • Strong
    organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities
    at one time and within tight deadlines
  • Strong
    engagement skills and ability to speak passionately about all of Free the
    Children’s campaigns and programs and Me to We’s products and experiences
    for further engagement in Free The Children and Me to We opportunities
  • Excellent
    oral and written communication skills
  • Strong
    social and professional skills to build relationships with educators,
    students and parents
  • Ability
    to work well individually in a partnership and within a team
  • Charisma
    when working with youth, and a passion for youth leadership skill
    development. Relatable to a high school aged and above audience.
  • Exercises
    good judgment when working with youth and is a positive role model for
    young people
  • Ability
    to manage logistical coordination with Me to We’s team of in-country staff
    on trips (including lodging, transportation and meals)
  • Valid
    passport, no criminal record; First Aid certification is required
  • Proven
    ability to take initiative and manage high-stress situations
  • High
    level of passion, energy, creativity and a great sense of humor

Key
Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Safely
    leading groups through Me to We trip programs at International locations
  • Implement
    logistics for trips including lodging, transportation, and meals
  • Facilitating
    leadership workshops for various ages and groups of varying sizes
  • Developing
    many unique and inspiring leadership workshops, speeches and presentations
    pertaining to social action, for youth audiences
  • Developing
    youth-friendly curriculum and educational content for secondary and
    elementary school students, and supporting with the Me to We Leadership
    Research and Development coordinator at all times when not facilitating
  • Knowledgeable
    about current local and global issues – ability to teach others about
    these issues (strong interest in self-directed learning about social
    justice issues and leadership skills)
  • Preparing,
    distributing and explaining materials (promotional, program, youth
    resources, and other)
  • Engaging
    youth, educators and parents in additional Free The Children and Me to We
    opportunities, through a complete understanding of all Me to We
    programming and product opportunities and Free The Children programs.
  • Cultivate
    and sustain strong relationships with adults who support the youth
  • Maintain
    regular e-mail and phone contact with a large network of youth
  • Act
    as a positive role model for all youth through your words and actions
  • Managing
    contact information and engagement based referrals through Sales Force and
    the Me to We referrals process
  • Work
    cooperatively as part of a dynamic team as well as independently
  • Represent
    Me to We with a high level of professionalism, passion and dedication
  • Flexible
    with taking on new responsibilities as the position evolves
  • Administrative
    requirements: high quality of report writing, ability to manage time
    effectively to meet deadlines (ability to conduct administrative work
    while travelling domestically and internationally), follow up with clients
    in and out of the office etc.

The Seasonal Trip
Facilitator will report to the Director of Quality and Development, Michelle
Dittmer.

Pay Range: To be
decided based on contract length and experience.
