Free The Children
seeks a driven and motivated Volunteer
Coordinator who will report directly to the Manager of
Volunteer Engagement. This role is responsible for supporting in the planning
and implementation of a flawless We Day Volunteer experience for Free the
Children’s signature event, We Day.
The We Day work
environment appeals to self-directed, flexible team players who enjoy multi-
tasking and working in a fast paced environment. A passion for event planning
and logistics combined with an interest in social justice is an asset.
A minimum two-year
commitment is required and the compensation for our entry level coordinator
roles is:
- Year 1:
$27, 500 - Year 2:
$29, 500
There is a three (3)
month probationary period, upon reaching the three (3) month period, all staff
members are offered a health plan including dental and Employee Assistant
Program. The position is based out of Free The Children’s International office
in Toronto (233 Carlton Street). This role is perfect for a new graduate who is
looking to grow and work hard for two years. You love big goals and surpassing
expectations.

Responsibilities:
- Support
with the planning and implementation of the entire We Day experience for
all Volunteers at all We Days - Work
heavily on SalesForce and Pardot Databases to develop and maintain a new
registration portal and reporting systems for volunteers at all events - Cross
over with departments and teams across both organizations to determine
number of volunteers needed at all events - Create
and deliver the team lead training presentation before each season - Create
training templates for each team to train their volunteers in venue at
each event - Plan
logistics for volunteers in venue for each We Day event (Arrival times,
in-venue routes, volunteer space location, etc.) - Creates
rundowns for volunteer events (Thank You events, Pep Rally) - Responsible
for organizing the details around and booking the Crowd Pumper training
venue for each event - Report
weekly to Executive Director of We Day and other Directors across the
organization, with the support of his/her Manager, to summarize volunteer
recruitment numbers to date for each city - Liaise
with the following teams to submit orders/complete tasks pertinent to the
volunteer experience at each We Day: - Décor
- Shipping
and Load In/Load Out - Signage
- T-Shirt
Orders - Food
Orders - Gift
Orders - Talent
Crossover - Human
Power Assessment - May be
asked to support with other components of the team (i.e. recruitment,
communications, corporate volunteers, etc.) as directed.
Reporting and
Relationships:
- This
position will reside on the Event Operations team within the We Day Team,
and this person works closely with all subunits of the We Day team - The
Volunteer Coordinator, We Day will report directly to the Manager of
Volunteer Engagement.
Skills and
Qualifications:
- Bachelor
degree preferred and some professional work experience - Prior
experience with volunteers, event coordination is an asset - Enjoys
working in a demanding, fast paced work environment; - Willingness
to work long hours, and travel for extended periods of time - Highly
self-motivated and independent, a strategic and critical thinker; - Able to
perform well and problem solve in high stress, dynamic and changing
situations; - Unsurpassed
attention to detail and highly organized to handle planning for multiple
We Day events simultaneously - Comfortable
working with external stakeholders; strong inter-personal skills; - Enjoys
public speaking; addressing large crowds; - Flexible,
adaptable, thrives in stressful situations and strong team player - Ability
to maintain a high degree of discretion and confidentiality - Positive
and professional attitude and able to work as a team player; - Excellent
time management, organization and multi-tasking skills; - Strong
ability to prioritize tasks with competing timelines; - Sound
understanding of and experience working with Microsoft Office Suites
(Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); - Strong
understanding of spreadsheets and numerical data entry, especially working
with formulas for calculating and analyzing volunteer numbers - Excellent
written and oral communication skills; comfortable with cold calling - Experience
using Salesforce & Pardot systems is an asset
