services for autopsies and manage the portfolio of all digital media within the
Ontario Forensic Pathology Service at the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional

this role, you will:
perform forensic photography services for autopsies and provide extensive
training in specimen/autopsy photographic techniques to technical staff in the
autopsy service
provide support for the creative application of technology within our office
manage databases for various forms of media including digital imaging and
radiographic imaging in support of death investigations and medico-legal
autopsies
assist pathologists with composition of presentations from a multimedia
perspective by utilizing various software programs to create presentations
using digital media

do I qualify?
Knowledge and Experience:
you have experience with computer software programs including Microsoft Access
(for various database applications), PowerPoint, Word, Excel, ACDSee, document
imaging software and graphic design programs
you can use Photoshop, Lightroom and other Adobe Creative Suite software to
digitally manipulate images in order to maximize dynamic range
you have knowledge of single lens reflex (DSLR) digital photographic
technology, techniques and methodology as well as principles of forensic
photography in support of autopsy performance and death investigations
you have understanding of exposure and lighting, composition and colour balance
as well as colour management from camera to print including calibration of
cameras, monitors and testing prints
you have experience with photography production including printing and
archiving techniques
you understand principles pertaining to continuity of evidence related to
forensic photography and management of digital images
you can use video conferencing technology/media such as those used in
telemedicine
Evaluation and Assessment Skills:
you can determine and apply technical procedures to prepare workspace, area and
specimens for photography and produce images for comparison with ante mortem
images for identification
you are able to evaluate the quality of images, adjusting where necessary,
recognizing the unique procedures and conditions used including mixed lighting
scenarios
you can produce quality images and provide adjustments to compensate for
environmental factors that affect image quality
you can perform quality assurance and control of equipment, procedures and
protocols
you have experience performing routine maintenance and testing on equipment and
to troubleshoot problems
(Oral and Written) and Consultation Skills:
you can prepare standard operating procedures and assist staff with the identification
of persons and to produce digital images for comparison
you are able to participate in the preparation and delivery of education
sessions, lectures, seminars, workshops and demonstrations on the techniques
and uses of imaging technology in death investigations
Skills:
you can conduct ongoing literature reviews and participate in research
activities to validate protocols and advance death investigation and the field
of forensic photography
you can maintain awareness of current and emerging trends and technologies to
assess new standards, procedures and best practices as well as participate in
the assessment and evaluation of procedures, policies and protocols in forensic
digital imaging
