Short term organic, bio-dynamic
farm work and stay.
Work stay and learn new skills with room and board, or camping if you
prefer. All meals included, with stipend.
Located in Paisley, near Walkerton and Hanover.
Alverstoke Farm is a 100 acre farm located near to access point 8 on
the Saugeen River in beautiful Grey Bruce area, 2.5 hours from
Toronto.
As a female farmer who 7 years ago was a city girl, I would love to
invite other non farmers to experience country life. You may not have
a longing to become a full time farmer, but just to have the
experience of being connected to the land and how food is raised and
grown can be an awesome experience. I raise Pure Berkshire Pigs on
Pasture living in ARKS, I currently have 6 sows and many piglets all
at various stages of their growth cycle. 80 sheep raised on rotational
pasture. 500 apple and pear tree orchard. I currently sell at two
farmers markets, Port Elgin and Walkerton. Farm gate sales.
• Marketing.
• Greenhouse planting, watering.
• Vegetable garden for farm use.
• 500 apple and pear tree, prunning spraying, cutting grass.
• Using hay equipment.
• Cultivating pig pastures readying for reseeding.
• Building ARKS
• Repairing fences.
• Fencing new pastures.
• Moving sheep with electro netting.
• Maintenance of farm buildings.
• Assisting at farrowing time.
• Milling pig feed using a 2 ton mill attached to a tractor.
• Attending Farmers Markets with me. (Ashley)
• Using all farm machinery safely with full training.
Experience is not necessary just a desire to join in fully with farm life.

alone if you prefer.
Work Stay positions are available from June to October. Minimum stay
is two weeks without stipend, but if you would like to stay 4 weeks or
more you will receive $50 per week, including all meals and snacks,
with laundry. Access to wi-fi, use of the pool & canoes. I would
prefer a non-smoker.
You will not be expected to cook or clean, only keep your room tidy.
I’m more than happy to share my cooking skills with you. They may
include daily bread making, baking, canning, also making jam.
