VACANCY
ANNOUNCEMENT: PRESS AND INFORMATION OFFICER
The
Delegation of the European Union to Rwanda seeks to employ a Press and Information
Officer
(Local Agent – Group I). The incumbent will have an overall
responsibility for development, organization and management press, information
and public diplomacy activities of the E

U Delegation aiming to create and
sustain high visibility of the European Union and its activities in Rwanda.
He/she will be also responsible for monitoring of publically available
information sources in the country. The post is based at the Delegation offices
in Kigali. The incumbent will report to the Head of Political, Press and
Information Section. The Delegation of the European Union offers exciting work

JOB
DUTIES
  • Management
    of press relations
    of the EU Delegation, including
    development of good working relations with media, preparation and
    dissemination of press releases, organization of press briefings/press
    conferences/press trips, organization of TV/radio/print interviews, and
    preparation and implementation of any other activities aimed to achieve
    high coverage and visibility of the EU and its activities in the media
  • Management
    of information and public diplomacy activities

    of the EU Delegation, including organization of information campaigns
    about the EU and its activities, design, maintenance and regular update of
    EU Delegation’s on line information sources (website, social media),
    design and implementation of public diplomacy activities to provide
    information about the EU, EU priorities and EU – Rwanda cooperation
  • Management
    of press and public diplomacy budget
    , including
    preparation of annual information and communication plan, design,
    procurement and management of projects to execute the plan, and preparation
    of the annual report on the implementation of the plan; input into design
    and implementation of information and public diplomacy activities funded
    through other EU budget lines; preparation or update of Delegation’s
    press, information and visibility strategy
  • Coordination
    of planning and implementation of press, information and public diplomacy
    activities with all sections of the EU Delegation, embassies of EU member
    states and their related agencies (and as the case may be also other
    actors)
  • Monitoring
    of media
    and
    preparation of daily press review summarizing main political, economic and
    other developments in the country; preparation of ad-hoc analysis of media
    perception of particular developments or events (e.g. EU high level
    visits, publication of important reports, etc.); preparation of ad-hoc
    short background analytical papers; preparation of speeches and other
    background materials for the Head of Delegation and execution of other
    related tasks as assigned by the Head of Political, Press and Information
    section
JOB
REQUIREMENTS
University
degree preferably in Journalism/Communications, Political Sciences,
International Relations or related area. Candidates must be fully computer
literate and possess superior analytical, drafting and organizational skills. A
minimum of 5 years’ professional experience relevant to the post. Work
experience in the area of communication, press, information or similar field
with development agencies, diplomatic missions or international organizations
will be considered an asset. Candidates must be fluent in English and have at
least working knowledge of Kinyarwanda. Knowledge of French would be considered
as an advantage.
DURATION
Indefinite
full time contract with a probationary period.
REMUNERATION
According
to the salary scales of the European Union and relevant experience.
