About the
Role:
Reporting to the
Director of Operations, the IT Manager evaluates, plans and organizes all IT
& telecommunications infrastructure and systems that Ecojustice utilizes to
achieve its strategic and operational objectives.
The IT Manager
consults with IT providers and vendors and is responsible for reviewing
external service provider reports. The IT manager oversees delivery of
technical support service and provides training to end-users at all Ecojustice
offices and for staff who work remotely. In addition, the IT manager is
responsible for documentation of systems, procedures, processes and policies
and researching and implements solutions as part of overall IT strategy
implementation.
Primary
Responsibilities:
Manage
Information Technology and Computer Systems:
- Assists
in planning, budgeting, controlling and evaluating, as well as developing
& implementing policies & procedures for the operations of IT
systems, telecommunications, and electronic data
- Manages
IT budget, obtaining competitive pricing for suppliers, contractors and
vendors to ensure cost-effectiveness
- Managers
services provided by external vendors, suppliers and
contractors/consultants
- Ensures
adherence to and compliance with software licensing laws and other
regulations (made more broad)
- Ensuring
policies, procedures, agreements and testing in place for data security on
networks and in cloud environments
- Develops
and implements disaster recovery plan
- Ensures
system and data back-up procedures are in place; tests backup systems
- Oversees
routine systems maintenance functions and monitors network performance
- Establishes
best practices and quality control standards for system maintenance,
hardware and software upgrades, and security protocols
- Liaises
internally with staff on IT needs and infrastructure planning &
implementation
- Manages
user accounts for network, email, phone and other systems
- Meets
with vendors to discuss system requirements, specifications, costs and
timeliness and makes recommendations to leadership
IT Support:
- Provides
on-site and remote IT support for all staff across organization, including
staff working remotely from Ecojustice offices; support relates to
computers, systems, peripherals, telecommunications, and other devices
- Oversees
external support (helpdesk, VOIP, hardware, etc.) and ensures end-user
issues are resolved; reviews ticketing system logs
- Escalates
any unresolved, urgent, or complex IT, telecommunications and hardware
issues to external service providers
Training:
- Assists
in new-hire orientation, providing instructions and support on phone
system, softwares, teleconferencing & videoconferencing procedures,
remote access, etc.
- In
consultation with leadership, assesses organizational IT training needs,
and develops and implements strategic IT training plan
- Provides
ongoing staff training as needed, and develops and maintains training
materials and resources
- In
consultation with leadership, evaluates implications of any proposed
organization-wide changes, develops and implements training to address
needs as part of overall change management
- Works
with HR to ensure IT is included in professional development and
performance management of all staff
Documentation:
- Creates
and maintains inventories of IT & telecommunications infrastructure
and systems documentation
- Maintains
and implements IT disaster recovery plans, IT policies and strategic IT
plans
- Participates
in organizational-wide risk identification and mitigation documentation
procedures, especially as relates to IT
- Creates,
implements maintains all policies and procedures related to IT and
telecommunications infrastructure
- Creates
and maintains knowledge base

About You:
Qualifications:
- Minimum
Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
- A
minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, with previous experience in
non-profits or law firms considered an asset
- Broad
technical knowledge of PC computer hardware, MS operating systems, MS
Exchange and Windows servers, Active Directory, MS Office Suite, desktop
management software, other standard business-class software
- Demonstrated
knowledge of web technologies, databases, networks (LAN, WAN, WLAN, VLAN,
WIFI, ISP, etc.), cloud systems (IaaS, SaaS, DaaS, PaaS), security
protocols, telecommunications, use of multimedia and peripheral equipment,
virtualization and remote desktops
- Demonstrated
knowledge of disaster recovery & security protocols, risk analysis and
mitigation processes
- Strong
project management skills and experience in managing complex IT projects
- Working
knowledge of VOIP phone, teleconferencing and videoconferencing systems
- Basic
knowledge of Mac O/S, Mac computers and software
- Understanding
of the learning process & change management
- Knowledge
of Raiser’sEdge, QuickBooks, Office 365, CRM, PMS/EMS/CMS/DMS, MS
- SharePoint,
GoToMeeting, and time & attendance software an asset

Work
Environment:
Will be assigned a
specific work location, but will from time to time be required to work on a
variety of projects anywhere within our Ecojustice offices as well as other
locations.
