Description of the Study Area

The area of the study was limited to Afiesere in
Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State. According to Census (2006),
Afiesere community has a population of two thousand, five hundred (2,500)
persons. The community is made up of three quarters which are Okwarho, Ehe and
Urhie. The main occupation of the people of Afiesere Community is farming and
petty trading. The indigenous language of the people is Urhobo, but due to the
presence of many non-indigenes English language especially Pidgin English is
also used as a means of communication.
