Deputy Chief of Party/Technical (DCOP) Job Vacancy in Uganda at Abt Associates

Abt Associates, an international development organization composed of a multi-disciplinary group of dedicated professionals who provide technical assistance, research, analysis, and practical training services in more than 128 countries, seeks candidates for an upcoming USAID-funded project in Uganda focused on expanding access to, utilization, and integration of HIV/ AIDS, TB and malaria prevention, treatment, care and support activities along with maternal, reproductive and child health programs in Northern Uganda. All positions would be in Gulu district. Please note, all positions are contingent on successful award of a proposal. _
Deputy Chief of Party/Technical (DCOP)
In coordination with the Chief of Party (COP), the DCOP is responsible for providing management and technical guidance to ensure that project Interventions achieve expected results. Specific duties and responsibilities include the following:
• Provides direct technical leadership and oversight of project activities in key technical areas: maternal reproductive, and child health, HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria.
• Supervises senior technical sped a lists, and leads strategic program design and work planning for all technical areas.
• Oversees project teams in development and implementation of innovative approaches to expanding access and utilization of health services, capacity building at the facility and community levels, service integration (particularly in technical areas mentioned above), community-based service delivery and demand creation
• Consults regularly with MOH counterparts at different levels and with other stakeholders to ensure that activities reflect government strategies, priorities, and highest standards.
• Provides technical support to the Chief of Party to ensure that all activities are consistent with best practices.

Job requirement

Qualifications:
• Masters in public health, medical degree or PhD.
• Al least ten years of experience In public health, preferably with experience in Northern Uganda.
• At least ten years of experience working in a senior technical role for a public health and/or international development project, including USAID funded projects.
• Demonstrated technical skills, abilities and experience in; HIV/
AIDS, TB, malaria, maternal and reproductive health, and child
health; health services integration, development and application
of innovative approaches to increase access and utilization of
services; operational research, and other programmatic activities
pertaining to the technical areas mentioned above.
• Demonstrated experience supervising senior technical staff and
large project teams.
• Fluency in English required.
