Community Access Bikeshare (CAB)


CAB is a community tools project of The Working Centre. Currently
operating 9 stations in Kitchener and Waterloo, CAB provides
affordable access to bicycles while also focusing on the promotion of
cycling culture and community building in Waterloo region.

Internships at CAB

Researching new technology, building and fixing bicycles, providing
relationship based support to members, promoting cycling in the
community, marketing, social and traditional media relations – these
are just a few of the aspects of CAB interns have contributed to. For
our 2015 season CAB is seeking community minded cycling enthusiasts
(or those who want to become ones) to help us expand our station
locations, promote cycling culture, and continue making bicycles
accessible region wide. Ideally your interests involve any one or
combination of; environmentalism, community building, social work,
cycling, mechanical skills, social marketing, bike puns, research,
design, and volunteer development.

The Working Centre (TWC)

TWC is a non-profit, community-based, volunteer inspired organization
that seeks to give individuals and groups access to tools and
opportunities to become involved in community building project. Mainly
embedded in downtown Kitchener, TWC runs an extensive range of
projects, from supportive housing to employment counselling, to our
vegetarian café, thrift stores and small business mentorship programs
plus many more. TWC has promoted cycling through its project Recycle
Cycles since 1998 and is the host organization of Community Access
Bikeshare (CAB).

Details

We are currently seeking interns for 2-6 month time periods, starting
in both April and September 2015. Hours and timelines are flexible –
we’re happy to work with you to find the right balance! The position
includes a stipend as well as free 1 year CAB membership. As well we
are happy to work with academic requirements/specific learning and
personal goals.
