Bursary Scheme and Work
Program
Many young people who are upright
and well-meaning become poor through lack of industrial training. Through
ignorance they are unfitted to wrestle with the difficulties of life. Drifting
into the cities, they are often unable to find.[1]
Yet without doubt, the 21st
Century has presented enormous challenges that have confirmed that education is
the basis for success in any sphere one chooses to venture in. Education is the
foundation for higher living standards and an important tool in the long-term
eradication of poverty. Education is a key factor in helping countries move
from developing to developed.
Also in this information age one
ought to be well equipped with information and communication Technology
knowledge and skills to succeed in meeting the challenges of daily living. So
STAM was started to provide the youth with necessary ICT skills for employment
and contributes towards a call for prosperity for all hence, poverty reduction
and promotional of IT use among the populace.
However, STAM is still small and
growing so it has little resources, it is responding to the demands of the
community by offering free skills to the less advantaged youth. The management
is currently by God’s help building a system that will offer a number of
students a high-quality, mission-driven Christian education at reasonable cost.
Also Management has come up with full and half bursary schemes to brilliant but
needy youth. Everything that is being done is focused on community engagement and
Christian service.
A lot of care is taken to select
students on the bursary as not to encourage laziness, dependence, selfish and
extravagant. Our bursaries are not grants but privileges with conditions.
Students on the scheme are involved in crops farming and horticulture, domestic
activities on campus such as cleaning, digging and cooking. We also have chapel
worship programs which cater for the student’s spiritual and moral wellbeing.
a. The institute gave out 10 full
bursaries on diploma courses to needy but capable students for the year 2009
-2011.
