About the Position
The City is seeking
to recruit to a new role leading the design and implementation of devices,
systems and networks to establish a city-wide Internet of Things (IoT).
Projects include the
deployment of smart meters for various uses including managing water
consumption, billing and traffic management. Also included are specific
networks of devices to provide real-time information about traffic flows,
pedestrian movements, environmental conditions and water levels in rivers and
watercourses.
The role will
include the delivery of IoT projects, appointment and management of
contractors, stakeholder management, development of specifications and
standards and reporting to a range of internal and external audiences.
Key Deliverables of the
position:
Specific
deliverables of the role over the next 12 months include:
- Establishment
of an IoT framework, setting out standards and specifications for IoT
projects - Delivery
of IoT projects - Development
of the use of the city’s >50,000 streetlights as hosts for powered
network devices - Supporting
operational departments to automate data gathering systems - Delivering
real-time service models through the use of sensors and remote devices - Contributing
to big data analytics through the deployment of devices and sensors
About You
You will have
substantial experience of the IoT field, including direct experience of
designing, specifying and delivering IoT networks. You will have an up to
date knowledge of the IoT industry, and a sound appreciation of how service
quality and cost-effectiveness can be enhanced through the use of IoT systems.
You will have a
proven track record of delivery of IoT networks and devices, and be able to
demonstrate how this knowledge will benefit the Gold Coast in its move towards
becoming a Digital City.
You will enjoy
working in a small, dynamic team in a fast-changing technology
environment. At the same time, you will have a deep appreciation of the
value and need for clear business cases and return on investment analysis to
support the design and delivery of IoT projects.
