The City of Campbell River is seeking a uniquely qualified, energetic and
motivated professional who can step in to cover a term leave, and lead a
diverse team of high performing technical professionals in delivering the
community’s potential as envisioned within the City’s Sustainable Official
Community Plan.
Under the direction of the General Manager of Operations, the Community
Planning & Development Services Manager will work in close collaboration
with other departments and key business and community stakeholders. Principle
responsibilities will include overseeing development engineering, building
inspection, current and long-range community planning, corporate and community
sustainability initiatives, business licensing and environmental management
& stewardship. The City has a range of exciting policy planning initiatives
underway including downtown revitalization efforts and an update to the City’s
OCP and Zoning Bylaw, which the Manager and his/her staff team and consultants
will lead.
The ideal candidate will bring with them:
• Significant experience in policy development and program delivery related to
land use planning and development services, long range community planning,
downtown revitalization, climate change, environmental management and
sustainability, at a senior level within a municipality;
• direct supervisory experience as a manager;
• advanced post-secondary academic achievements specializing in community
planning, environmental sciences, and sustainability, or similarly relevant
programs;
• eligibility for membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners.
