Summary
Umenye
will work to improve reading outcomes in Kinyarwanda for at least 1 million
children in public and government-aided schools in Rwanda by the end of Grade
3. Specifically, Soma Umenye will target all children in Grades 1-3
attending public and government-aided schools nationwide and ensure that at
least 70 percent of students are able to read grade-level text with fluency and
comprehension by the end of Grade 3.
Duties and Responsibilities
Motor Pool Coordinator will be responsible for planning, directing, and
coordinating the use of motor vehicles and driv
ers in providing efficient
transportation services to the Soma Umenye Project. The Motor Pool Coordinator
is principally responsible for fleet management and maintenance of the
project’s vehicles, to include monitoring of fuel consumption and mileage. The
Motor Pool Coordinator will also be responsible for coordinating transportation
services agreements and vehicle rental, as necessary, and will be responsible
for tracking staff locations for off-site travel. The Motor Pool Coordinator
will directly supervise approximately 5 drivers and will provide fleet
management support to a staff of approximately 90 individuals. The Motor Pool Coordinator
will also provide support to other operations staff, including the finance,
administration, and procurement teams. Specific responsibilities include:
- Coordinates
the dispatch of vehicles as per approved staff requests, and monitors the
vehicle request process. - Monitors
staff whereabouts in relation to project vehicle use. - Ensures
that drivers are familiar with safety procedures and well-trained. - Ensures
that vehicle mileage per trip is recorded and maintained. - Ensures
that fuel for project vehicles is supplied on time and is adequately
monitored. - Ensures
vehicle log books are completed accurately by drivers. - Manages
drivers to ensure project vehicles are clean and in good operational
condition. - Manages
project vehicles, schedules drivers according to established guidance, and
conducts periodical checks of vehicle log books. - Prepares
vehicle maintenance purchase requests plans proactively for preventative
maintenance. - Maintains
fuel tracking records and ensures appropriate consumption by project vehicles. - Manages
hired taxis and rental vehicles, as needed. - Reports
vehicle accidents/incidents and participates in accident/incident
investigations. - Directly
supervises drivers. - As
time permits, supports project administration, procurement and finance
teams with routine tasks such as filing, answering phones, soliciting
quotations and participating in evaluation committees for project
procurements, or any other tasks assigned by management. - Performs
other duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s
degree in a related field or relevant training and equivalent combination
of education and work experience. - Three
years of administrative/logistics experience. Two years of experience in
travel logistics and vehicle coordination preferred. - Proficiency
in computers and Microsoft excel. - Thorough
knowledge of USAID and its contractual and reporting requirements
preferred. - Proficiency
in written and spoken English and Kinyarwanda required. - Strong
organizational and time management skills. - Social
and emotional maturity, dependability, and good interpersonal skills. - Ability
to multitask and prioritize. - Ability
to work independently and collaboratively on a team.
of Effort and Location of Assignment
is a long-term position and the location of assignment is Kigali, Rwanda with
intermittent travel throughout the country.
