well as 15 acres of mixed grains and legumes. We are looking for an
enthusiastic, positive and skilled individual for the position of
assistant field manager for the 2015 season with the possibility of
long-term future employment.

Cedar Down Farm is owned and operated by Leslie Moskovits and Jeff
Boesch. The assistant field manager will help in all aspects of
running the farm (including all elements of field and garden work as
well as some customer service) and will have some responsibility for
supervising and directing other staff and interns. The right person
for this position has a keen interest market gardening as a career and
is positive, self-motivated, independent and a very good communicator!

What the farm has to offer:
• A 45 hour work week within a team of 4-5 people.
• Duties include greenhouse seedling production, field preparation,
planting, weeding, tractor operation, harvest, post-harvest handling,
delivery of vegetables and customer service at CSA pickups,
supervision of other staff and interns.
• Support for a small side project of interest. Do you want to raise
some chickens? A couple of pigs? The farm can provide infrastructure
and support for a small farming project that interests you and fits in
with our operation and schedule.
• $1700/month and a room in a shared house . Plus all the vegetables
and grains you can eat.

We are situated within a vibrant small-farm community with lots of
potential for socializing, idea sharing and learning from diverse farm
businesses. The farm is located within beautiful Grey County, nearby
to Lake Huron and the Bruce Peninsula. We are just over an hour north
of Guelph and two hours from Toronto.

What we are looking for:
• A minimum of two years experience working on an organic market
garden focusing on farmers’ market sales or CSA.
• Positive references from at least 2 sources (farm-related).
• Someone with a keen interest in farming who has gained appropriate
skills through work experience.
• Someone who can work fast and smart and can take and give direction
with a positive and constructive attitude.
• Someone able to work well both independently and in a team environment.
• Someone who has experience living rurally or is prepared to enjoy it!
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
