Chinese Readers and Health Guide, and one website www.6868.ca. Since its
inception, CC Media has continuously contributed to the development and
well-being of the multi-culture communities. It has become one of the most
influential media group among the Chinese communities.
Very Good News:
Founded on October 8, 2004, published every Friday, focusing on news comment,
education, employment, business & investment, as well as other living areas
such as health care and medical treatment, English learning, match-making,
insurance, automobiles and housing.
Chinese Readers:
Founded on March 4, 2005, published every Saturday, focusing on knowledge and
entertaining, such as history, celebrity stories in fields such as business,
sports, and arts. All articles of Chinese Readers are carefully selected to
attract our readers’ interests.
Health Guide:
Founded on December, 2006, published every Friday, providing information of
healthy life style, scientific findings in the health care industry,
traditional Chinese treatment such as Chinese herbal medicine, acupuncture, and
successful stories related to local Chinese herbalists. The publication also
provides weekly updates of activities of Canadian Chinese health care providers
associations.
CC Media now is
seeking an Editor to write, edit, and publish a range of content for its
newspapers and website. The position will be based in Toronto and might be
travelling as needed. The incumbent will be part of the editorial team under
the Editor in Chief and is required to coordinate with other departments.
Main Job
Responsibilities:
Prepare, write, edit and evaluate web and print materials to enhance
readability, visibility, and illumination.
Proofread copies to detect and correct errors in spelling, punctuation, and syntax.
Design, allocate and implement print and web space and layout for text, photos,
and illustrations in accordance with the space parameters, layout principles,
news significance requirements and editorial policies.
Develop up-to-date guidance, guidelines and policies on compelling news content
and editorial on websites and newspapers and magazines to ensure they are
current, consistent and coherent.
Review and verify relevant factual and statistical proofs for submission prior
to web publication and print publication production.
Coordinate with web team and other departments to post, monitor and review
content submitted and edit as necessary prior to posting.
Prepare and lead current news, featured columns, video interviews, and other
columns and events.
Job Requirements:
Have a minimum of three years’ experience in websites, newspaper magazine and
similar areas.
Possess a Bachelor Degree in Journalism or similar/related diploma/degree
program.
Knowledge of computer and web design will be highly recommended.
Fluently speak Chinese and English, an approved English proficiency is preference.
Highly proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and InDesign, Dreamweaver,
and HTML.
Have excellent research, writing, and editing skills.
Possess a strong sensitivity to news and events.
Good at photographing, videoing and designing.
Have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Have a thorough understanding of the publication process.
Be highly responsible, accurate, and detail-oriented.
Willingness to work flexible hours and travel as needed.
Have abilities to work under pressure and effectively and efficiently work on
prioritized schedule.
